ARC Raiders is a shooter where you compete against other players and fight enemies while trying to collect valuable items. Before heading into a mission, you’ll need to equip yourself with gear. Be careful, though – if you’re defeated, you’ll lose everything you’re carrying, and other players can take it! If you’re new to the game, this can seem risky, so you can start with a free set of equipment to avoid losing your resources when you first begin.
This guide shares what we learned from playing ARC Raiders in the Server Slam playtest. It will be updated when the final game is released to include any changes made.
How to Get a Free Loadout in ARC Raiders
In ARC Raiders, players don’t have to spend time crafting weapons and gear. They can choose a free, pre-set loadout before each match. This loadout provides random equipment, weapons, health items, and grenades, but players are always guaranteed to receive the Free Loadout Augment.
To unlock a free starting kit in *ARC Raiders*, begin by clicking the “Play” button on the main menu. This will bring you directly to the screen where you choose your map.
After choosing a map, you’ll go to a screen where you can equip items for your character. This is where you customize what you start with in a match. But right next to the option to build your own loadout, there’s another tab that will give you a pre-selected, free loadout.
Once you’ve chosen the “Free Loadout” option, simply click “Ready Up” to begin finding a match. You’ll then be placed in a game with randomly selected equipment.
Your free loadout will usually include the following items.
- A Weapon and Some Ammo
- One or Two Throwables
- Two Medkits
- One Free Loadout Augment
- One Light Shield
When You Should & Shouldn’t Get a Free Loadout in ARC Raiders
While it’s tempting to start each match with a free loadout in ARC Raiders, it’s not always the best strategy. There are both benefits and drawbacks to using this option, which helps keep the game fair. Let’s explore when choosing a free loadout is a good idea, and when it’s better to skip it.
