Activision Has Banned 65,000 COD Cheaters in One Week

As a long-time Call of Duty enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a mix of relief and frustration upon hearing about Team RICOCHET’s recent ban wave. Relief because it’s a step towards restoring fair play in the game we all love, and frustration because it’s been an ongoing issue for far too long.

Team RICOCHET from Activision recently announced on social platforms that they’ve suspended 65,000 accounts in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 for unfair practices such as cheating and boosting. This significant action underscores the broader issue within the Call of Duty community, where players have often resorted to using unethical tools to manipulate games due to their perceived lack of skill.

Enforcement Time

According to a tweet, the anti-cheat group, RICOCHET, dedicated to Call of Duty, has stepped up actions against cheat vendors. This move led to over 65,000 accounts being suspended within a short period.

It was discovered that these accounts violated the rules by employing hacks, exploits, or artificially inflating their performance in both casual and competitive modes. Essentially, it appears that all cheaters, regardless of whether they are focused on the public or ranked competition, are being lumped together as one group.

🛡️ Team RICOCHET’s Anti-Cheat division has cleaned up the Ranked Play leaderboards for both Call of Duty: Warzone and #MWIII, dishing out bans to accounts caught cheating or using boosting services. With heightened vigilance against cheat vendors, #TeamRICOCHET has successfully terminated over 65,000 suspicious accounts.

The situation is quite unpleasant, all things considered. For quite some time now, Call of Duty has been grappling with cheaters, an issue that seems to escalate as time passes. Despite Activision’s efforts to catch cheat providers globally, it’s like dealing with a many-headed monster – cut off one head, and another pops up. Usually, the head you’ve just removed will reemerge under a fresh name and different appearance.

Fans admire this action, but there’s a general agreement among them that Team RICOCHET has the potential to achieve even greater things.
