As a long-time Trekkie with my Starfleet uniform hanging proudly in my room, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming “Star Trek: Section 31”. From the moment the first trailer dropped at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, I’ve been counting down the days. And when Rob Kazinsky, a fellow fanboy, shared the footage on his Instagram, it was like getting a personal invite to the bridge!

At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, I got a glimpse into the future as Star Trek: Section 31 unveiled its first trailer! To put an end to the buzz around my character, one of the stars took it upon themselves to share this exciting sneak peek.

Star Trek: Section 31 is coming out next year and fans are already looking forward to it. The film, headlined by Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh, is the first Star Trek made for Paramount Plus and focuses on Starfleet’s Section 31, an autonomous intelligence and defense organization that carries out covert operations for the United Federation of Planets. One of the stars shared the trailer on his social media account to highlight his role and let everyone know that the popular fan theory about him was not right.

Actor Rob Kazinsky (@therobkazinsky) recently uploaded the trailer for “Star Trek: Section 31” on Instagram, and he added the comment “Ride of a lifetime. No, I’m not a Borg,” which seems to be addressing rumors about him playing a Borg character in the upcoming sci-fi film. In his caption, Kazinsky expressed his enthusiasm for the franchise and his excitement about joining the project. He wrote, “I’ve been a Star Trek fan since I was able to understand it. I lean more towards TNG with ToS movies as a close second. Star Trek is like a moral compass, showing us a better future beyond our fallible present. I’m honored to be part of this amazing team, and can’t wait for a whole new era of Star Trek.”

Kazinsky’s post garnered numerous positive reactions, with several fans expressing their admiration for his role. One fan exclaimed, “This looks amazing! Borg or not, we will adore you.” Another enthusiastically commented, “So awesome! Can’t wait! I love Star Trek.” Yet another follower expressed excitement about the actor’s involvement in the film, saying, “I’m thrilled for you! Living your dreams indeed.”

He wrote:

Growing up with Star Trek as a constant companion, re-watching episodes whenever I completed them, I’ve always dreamed of joining that expansive galaxy of characters. Hearing ‘Space, the Final Frontier’ for the first time ignited a passion within me, and I believe our creation will resonate with fellow Trekkers like myself. Enjoy the experience!

In the latest trailer, Kazinsky’s character appears in a heavy exosuit and combat armor, leading some spectators to question if he might be a human rather than a Borg Collective member as previously speculated. His face is visible, unlike traditional Borg drones, who have extensive cybernetic enhancements and machinery embedded within their bodies. The Borg are known for mechanical and electronic protrusions like tubes, wires, metal plates, or life-support systems, as well as glowing lights on their heads or eyes, none of which can be seen in Kazinsky’s costume. Instead, he appears more like a cyborg in a high-tech armor suit, with his facial expressions clearly visible during action sequences. Nevertheless, fans will have to wait for further information to understand the full extent of Kazinsky’s role.

Star Trek: Section 31 will stream on Paramount+ in early 2025.
