Highlights
- Mega Rayquaza raids in Pokemon GO now give significantly less Mega Energy, disappointing fans hoping to evolve their Pokemon quickly.
- Niantic announced a rerun of the event to make up for the issues, but players are still struggling to gather enough Mega Energy.
As a dedicated Pokémon GO fan with over a decade of experience under my belt, I must say I’m finding myself disheartened by the recent turn of events regarding Mega Rayquaza raids. Having spent countless hours catching, training, and strategizing, only to find out that the Mega Energy rewards have been significantly reduced is quite frustrating.
Fans of Pokemon GO are disgruntled because the Mega Rayquaza raid yields less Mega Energy than before, making it challenging for numerous players to Mega evolve their Pokemon. Given that Rayquaza needs the highest amount of Mega Energy in Pokemon GO, players were anticipating they’d receive enough to Mega evolve in a few raids, if not just one.
Enthusiasts had been anxiously anticipating the comeback of Mega Rayquaza during the Shared Skies season in Pokemon GO, but the event ended up being plagued with bugs for players. To compensate for this inconvenience, Niantic has decided to re-run the event, offering another opportunity to those who missed capturing the coveted Pokemon. Initially, the news was met with enthusiasm as it eliminated the Elite Gym requirement from the Mega Rayquaza raid in Pokemon GO. However, it appears that even with this adjustment, some issues persist for players.
As a dedicated Pokémon GO enthusiast, I’ve been following discussions on the Pokémon GO and The Silph Road subreddits regarding the recent Mega Rayquaza event. Many fellow trainers, like myself, have shared their disappointment over this exciting event. Some of us had the necessary Meteorites, but were still unable to Mega Evolve due to a lack of Mega Energy. This was primarily because we didn’t have enough Mega Energy, a change made by Niantic during the Pokémon GO Mega Rayquaza Makeup event. In this new event, Niantic significantly reduced the amount of Mega Energy players received upon winning battles. While the lack of PokeStops being around was often blamed for the shortage of Meteorites, it’s the altered Mega Energy distribution that left us high and dry in this Mega Rayquaza event.
How Much Mega Energy Do Players Get From Defeating Mega Rayquaza in Pokemon GO
Initially during the first Mega Rayquaza Elite Raid in Pokémon GO, winning a raid earned players approximately 200 Mega Energy. However, this amount significantly decreased to around 70 for the subsequent event, making it challenging for players to Mega evolve their Pokémon. The amount of Mega Energy obtained depends on how quickly players defeat Mega Rayquaza. Some players stopped participating after a few raids under the assumption they had enough Mega Energy, later discovering they couldn’t Mega evolve their Pokémon. In fact, some players anticipated receiving around 400 Mega Energy from the initial Elite Raid, so the further reduction in reward has been met with disapproval within the community.
As a dedicated Pokémon GO player with years of experience under my belt, I can attest to the challenges that come with evolving Rayquaza for the very first time. Unlike other Pokémons, Rayquaza requires an ample amount of energy, which can only be obtained by winning raids initially. This can be quite a daunting task, as it demands not just skill but also a considerable amount of luck and perseverance. However, once you manage to Mega Evolve Rayquaza even once, you’ll reap the benefits of earning 100 Mega energy for walking 20km with the Pokemon. Granted, this is still no walk in the park, but it does provide a means for dedicated fans like myself to gradually gather some Mega energy.
