Ball X Pit is a simple game that’s surprisingly addictive. Players control one hero who repeatedly launches special and smaller balls. It’s a unique mix of roguelike and on-rails block-breaking gameplay, and while it might seem confusing at first, it quickly becomes intuitive after just one playthrough.
In *Ball X Pit*, defeating enemies helps you level up and unlock three random upgrades. These upgrades come in two types: passive skills that always improve your character, and new balls to use – everything from fireballs to poison balls. Finding the right balls is key to becoming more powerful and succeeding in each run.
Burn: Damage Enemies Over Time with Fire
Fire is a common element in role-playing games and video games. The ‘Burn’ ball attacks enemies, dealing initial damage and potentially setting them on fire for ongoing damage. It’s a solid attack throughout the game, but particularly effective against ice-based enemies in the second stage.
Okay, so usually when I fuse the Burn ball with other stuff, it just adds fire damage, which is cool. But there are a few surprises! Like, if I combine it with the Iron Ball, it doesn’t just add fire – it actually turns the whole thing into a bomb! It’s way more effective than just a regular fire attack.
Laser (Horizontal/Vertical): Attack Rows and Columns with Lasers
In Ball X Pit, there are two kinds of Laser Balls: one that shoots across rows and another that shoots down columns. Just like in Tetris, clearing entire rows or columns of enemies is a great strategy. The initial damage isn’t very high, but upgrading the Laser Balls allows players to quickly wipe out large groups of enemies.
As a player, I’m really excited about how these lasers work! If you combine them both, you get this super powerful ‘Holy Laser’ – it doesn’t reach as far as the individual lasers, but it attacks both across the screen and up and down. But honestly, the coolest part is you can fuse either laser with almost any other attack in the game. It just adds the laser’s special effect to the normal damage. Like, you could make a flaming laser that shoots sideways, and that’s a seriously awesome combination!
Poison: Damage Over Time with Poison
Poison is a common feature in games, and in *Ball X Pit* it works like this: hitting an enemy with a Poison ball can cause them to take damage over time. This makes it a useful tool for defeating tougher enemies, like mini-bosses, more quickly.
Players can combine the Poison ball with other abilities to create powerful effects, like the Virus ball, which also causes bleeding. While this combination is particularly dangerous, dealing significant damage over time, the Poison ball itself is still a valuable asset.
Vampire: Has a Chance to Heal
The Vampire ball doesn’t do a lot of damage on its own. But it’s useful because it can heal players as they play. At its base level, each hit has a chance to restore one health point. Considering players often defeat many enemies during a game, even a small amount of healing can add up quickly.
Improving the Vampire ball makes its healing effects stronger. While it’s not quite as powerful as having an actual vampire ally, it’s a reliable way to recover health. A great strategy is to combine the Vampire ball with the Iron ball to create the even more powerful Vampire Lord.
Egg Sac: Explodes in Baby Balls
The Egg Sac is definitely one of the most unsettling items in the game, but it’s also really effective. When it hits an enemy, it breaks apart into smaller balls that bounce off other enemies. Upgrading it increases the number of bouncing balls, and can essentially turn the Ball Pit area into a fast-paced pinball-like experience.
The Brood Mother is another powerful ball that helps create baby balls. When combined with the Egg Sac, it forms the Spider Queen, a truly chaotic and dominant force on any map. Players looking to cause serious trouble should definitely try to fuse these two together.
Earthquake: Attack Multiple Enemies
The Earthquake ball is special because it can hit several enemies at once. When it lands, enemies nearby will be damaged – the closer they are to where it hits, the more damage they’ll take. You can make the Earthquake ball more powerful and increase how wide an area it affects by leveling it up, but there’s another way to improve it as well.
Rather than combining another ball with the Earthquake, players should focus on getting the Magic Staff, which provides a constant, automatic improvement. This upgrade increases the range of the Earthquake ball and also boosts other ball types, like the Laser balls. If you have the Earthquake ball, a Laser ball, and the Magic Staff all equipped, enemies won’t be able to withstand your attacks.
Freeze: Stop Enemies in Their Tracks
Unlike fiery balls which quickly defeat enemies, ice balls offer a different approach in games. In *Ball X Pit*, the Freeze ball is an ice-type attack that can temporarily stop enemies. However, early in the game, the freeze effect doesn’t last very long.
When used extensively, freezing enemies can give players valuable time to escape a boss’s attacks. Also, combining Burn and Freeze balls creates the powerful Frozen Flame, a devastating attack that combines fire and ice. However, fusing Freeze with other balls can also lead to beneficial effects.
