As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that Monster Hunter Wilds has piqued my interest like no other game in recent memory. The latest trailers have showcased an impressive array of innovations, particularly in combat and traversing the terrain.

From what we’ve observed up until now, Monster Hunter Wilds promises a host of new features, primarily in combat and navigation. The recent trailers highlight essential gameplay elements such as focus mode, basic mechanics, and powerful swords, offering useful information about exploiting enemies’ vulnerabilities.

The game is set to be released in 2025 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.

Basic Mechanics – Seikret & Slings

In much the same vein as games like Counter-Strike, there’s an advantage of moving quicker when your weapons are stowed away. This period also allows for the use of potions and various in-game items.

Using Secret Steed, you seamlessly transition between various quests, a feature particularly useful considering the vastness of the game world. One aspect we found delightful is the ability to hone weapons, imbibe potions, swap weapons, and gather items all whilst riding the steed.

As a savvy gamer, I’ve found the slinger to be an invaluable tool in my arsenal. Instead of traditional ammo, it harnesses objects from the game world, making it a versatile weapon. This comes in handy for creating diversions and keeping enemies at bay, particularly when facing formidable foes. It’s like having a bag full of surprises to outwit my opponents!

You’ll also have fun with a slinger hook, which allows you to gather ingredients from a distance. With this tool/weapon, you traverse treacherous chasms and sling from one ledge to another like Lara Croft.

Focus Mode – Exploiting Weaknesses

In the trailer, you’ll find a fascinating new addition – Focus Mode – to Monster Hunter Wilds. This feature introduces strategic elements as players identify and continuously attack the vulnerable spots of monsters.

In the game “Monster Hunter World”, players have the ability to target particular body areas of their opponents, delivering precise blows that cause damage and create visible wounds. This gives the impression that every hit matters significantly.

Maintaining assaults during the Focus phase inflicts substantial harm, eventually causing the beast to be severely weakened.

Great Swords – Big Bonk Sticks

Great swords are among the slowest weapons in the game, and they compensate by dealing serious damage. Clunky but deadly, they show the best results in focus mode.

As a seasoned soldier who has seen my fair share of battles, I can confidently say that certain classes of weapons are particularly useful for defense due to their wide coverage area. One such weapon that stands out is the one I have come to appreciate for its hit-and-run tactics. The devastating power it possesses allows me to dish out massive damage in quick succession, and then swiftly retreat to “reload” after each strike. This strategy has saved my life more times than I can count, making this weapon an essential part of my arsenal. In the heat of battle, there’s no doubt that having a tool like this at your side can mean the difference between survival and defeat.

From our observations, it appears that using powerful swords triggers a contest of strength during grappling encounters between monsters and characters, as they both strive to dominate one another.
