As a long-time Scream fanatic who’s seen every twist and turn since the original slasher hit the silver screen back in ’96, I can confidently say that the return of Sidney Prescott to the franchise in Scream 7 is music to my ears. The classic elements of mystery and suspense are making a comeback, and it’s high time we got a truly shocking Ghostface reveal to keep us on our toes.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that “Scream 7” is going back to its iconic roots! The storyline is shaping up to honor the legacy of this beloved franchise. Guess who’s making a comeback as the leading lady? None other than Neve Campbell reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, following her appearances in “Scream (2022)” and a brief absence in “Scream 6”. Fingers crossed, this return to form will culminate in an unbelievable revelation of the Ghostface in “Scream 7” that will leave us shocked to the core!

In the latest Scream movies, it’s not that the Ghostface killers haven’t been entertaining, but it wasn’t a shock when Richie Kirsch and Amber Freeman were revealed as the killers in Scream (2022), nor was it unexpected to discover Detective Bailey and Ethan Landry as two of the masked maniacs in Scream 6. The only surprising twist was Quinn Bailey’s Ghostface reveal, given her early fake-out death. To rekindle the suspense, Scream 7 should introduce killers that genuinely catch the audience off guard, just like the earlier Scream sequels did.

Scream 7’s Ghostface Killers Need To Shock The Audience To Its Core

One of the best parts of a Scream movie is the unmasking of the Ghostface killer in the finale. The Scream franchise works because, as well as being slasher movies, they are also classic whodunit murder mysteries. However, it’s become too easy to guess the killers as the series has progressed, and the whodunit has become more of a ‘whydunit’, with the killer’s motive the only real surprising revelation, and not the Ghostface killers themselves.

In the latest Scream sequels, we’ve seen an upward trend in familiar characters surviving and Ghostface causing more carnage, which has made it easier for viewers to deduce the identity of the killer using a process of elimination. To maintain suspense and keep the audience guessing, Scream 7 might need to introduce a fresh batch of captivating characters, thus making it unpredictable who the killer could be and who will fall victim next.

As a gamer immersed in the world of the “Scream” series, it’d send a shiver down my spine if Sidney’s kids turned out to be Ghostface. If the line between victim and villain blurs so much that Sidney unknowingly raised her own tormentor, it would make for an unforgettable twist in the franchise’s lore.

In terms of unexpected twists, one intriguing possibility for the Ghostface reveal in Scream 7 could be a legacy character taking on the role of the killer. While it would certainly shock audiences if Sidney Prescott were revealed as the Ghostface killer, this twist might contradict her character development. On the other hand, Gale Weathers becoming the Ghostface in Scream 7 is not entirely implausible and would undoubtedly be a jaw-dropping revelation. However, it’s important to note that Gale has never shown signs of being a killer, so she’ll likely work alongside Sidney against the Ghostface in Scream 7 instead.

It seems that the most likely choice for Scream 7 could be focusing on the Cult of Ghostface killers, a theory that has been circulating for a while. However, should this path be taken by Kevin Williamson, it’s essential to have a substantial number of characters in Scream 7 to maintain the ‘whodunit’ aspect, preventing the surprise of the Ghostface killer from fading. Even if Stu Macher were to return as the main antagonist, revealing him as the franchise architect would still be an unexpected twist, despite fan speculation about his comeback in Scream 7 for quite some time now.

Jill Roberts’ Ghostface In Scream 4 Was The Last Shocking Reveal In The Scream Franchise

Scream 7 Needs A Shocking Ghostface Killer Reveal

In Scream 4, it was quite a surprise for the viewers when they discovered that Sidney’s cousin, Jill Roberts, was actually the Ghostface killer, alongside Charlie Walker. Initially, Jill was introduced as a potential new “final girl” for Sidney to guide in Scream 4, but the audience’s assumptions were challenged, and there was a strong sense of shock when Jill unmasked herself as the killer in the climax of the movie.

In simpler terms, it wasn’t the first time a relative of Sidney’s was exposed as the Ghostface killer. In the movie “Scream 3,” Jill, joining her cousin Roman Bridger, became part of the Ghostface killer club. Roman went on a killing spree in Stab 3, targeting the cast and eventually luring Sidney out of hiding to confront him at John Milton’s mansion on his birthday. The surprising fact was that Roman was revealed to be Sidney’s half-brother, who had inspired Billy and Stu to murder their mother, Maureen Prescott. However, the revelation that Jill was the Ghostface killer in “Scream 4” was even more shocking. Fans are eagerly anticipating if the upcoming movie “Scream 7” can unveil a Ghostface killer as surprising or exciting as some of the previous ones in the series.
