As a seasoned Fairy Tail enthusiast, allow me to shed some light on the formidable figures that grace this magical world. First and foremost, we have the enigmatic Richard, a mage whose abilities are as versatile as they are deadly. His journey from villainy to vigilantism is a testament to the transformative power of redemption, much like a phoenix rising from its own ashes.

In the realm of Fairy Tail, where magic serves as the cornerstone for its power structure, the narrative unfolds with a diverse array of magical powers and abilities rooted in the concept of sorcery. Although many powers are rare and distinct, Earth Magic – one of the fundamental elements – boasts numerous potent users. Some mages specialize in Earth Magic, making it their primary source of power, while others utilize tools or devices to tap into this magic.

In the realm of Fairy Tail, the magic associated with Earth embodies qualities such as wisdom, reliability, and vitality. This symbolism is mirrored in those who harness this power, ranging from venerable Wizard Saints to mighty Earth Dragon Deities. Consequently, Earth Magic stands as one of the most potent forces among all magical abilities within Fairy Tail.

6 Lucy Heartfilia

Wields Earth Magic Through Star Dress: Virgo Form

Strongest Earth Magic Users In Fairy Tail
Character Debut Episode 1 “Fairy Tail”
Affiliation Fairy Tail

As a mage with celestial spirit abilities, Lucy can tap into her spirits’ powers by inserting their gate keys onto her chest and wearing their Star Dresses. In the Virgo Form of her Star Dress, Lucy can utilize Earth Magic powers from Virgo, though these powers are slightly less potent compared to their full capacity.

In this shape, Lucy has been observed employing the Spica Hole and Diver charms from Virgo, which allow her to subtly control the ground beneath her and her adversaries. However, since Earth Magic isn’t Lucy’s natural ability, her performances of Virgo’s spells are significantly restricted and feeble compared to the originals.

5 Virgo

A Celestial Spirit Based On the Maiden Earth Goddess

Character Debut Episode 3 “Infiltrate! The Everlue Mansion!”
Affiliation 12 Golden Zodiac Spirits

In line with the maiden’s astrological sign, Virgo, embodies her cosmic heritage effectively. As her constellation symbolizes Demeter, the ancient Goddess of Agriculture, primarily associated with the Earth, Virgo’s main powers are drawn from Earth Magic. However, her skill set is not overly diverse as it mainly includes the creation of underground holes, reminiscent of a mole.

In a simpler and more conversational style: Virgo’s go-to spell is called Diver, which lets her burrow through the earth incredibly fast. Her stronger spells are Spica Lock and Spica Hole, both of which trap opponents by creating pits under them. The names of these spells pay tribute to Virgo’s cosmic background, as Spica is the most brilliant star in the constellation of Virgo.

4 Sol

Former S-Class Mage With Mastery Over Earth Magic

Character Debut Episode 21 “Phantom Lord”
Affiliation Phantom Lord

As a member of the Phantom Lord’s Element 4 and known for my quirky personality and sly tactics, I, Sol, stood tall among the S-Class mages. During our assault on Fairy Tail’s headquarters, I showcased incredible skill in Earth Magic. However, in a thrilling duel against Elfman, I met my match and was defeated, adding another exciting chapter to the tale of our epic clash.

Sol boasted an extensive collection of attacks derived from the Earth, spanning from a basic shower of stones to his ultimate maneuver which imprisoned foes in stone for eternity. Sol wasn’t shy about employing underhanded strategies; he even used an Earth statue to resemble Lisanna, tricking Elfman into lowering his defenses. Despite being an S-Class warrior, Sol was ultimately vanquished by a revitalized Elfman in his demonic form.

3 Richard Buchanan

Affiliation Crime Sorciere, Oracion Seis (Formerly)

In the storyline known as Oracion Seis arc, a character named Richard Buchanan was unveiled, initially portrayed as one of Fairy Tail’s numerous antagonists who eventually underwent redemption. During his confrontation with Jura Neekis, we got to see many of his abilities. His main power lies in Earth Magic. Using the spell Liquid Ground, Richard manipulates the ground’s density, resulting in a significant softening of the earth beneath.

Using this skill, Richard effortlessly pins down several adversaries on the ground. However, Jura’s talent to solidify the ground and build stone barriers nullified his magic. Once Nirvana was activated, Richard found himself being attracted towards light and righteousness, causing him to abandon his wicked beliefs. Subsequently, he teamed up with Crime Sorciere, the ex-Oracion Seis members, as a mage working for justice.

2 Jura Neekis

Fifth-Strongest Wizard Saint Of Ishgar

Character Debut Episode 52, “Allied Forces, Assemble!”
Affiliation Lamia Scale

Known as Iron Rock Jura by many, the character we’re discussing is Jura Neekis, one of the most formidable mages in the entire Fairy Tail series. His status is confirmed by his title, Wizard Saint. Despite being linked to Lamia Scale, Jura has frequently appeared throughout the series, consistently demonstrating his potent Earth Magic abilities that cause widespread destruction.

Equipped with the power to solidify the earth whenever he wishes, Jura wields his magic to construct sturdy pillars straight from the ground. This ability can be utilized for both defensive and aggressive purposes. Mastering the essence of the earth, Jura is capable of shattering mountains and hurling fragments at his adversaries with just a casual wave of his hand. The destructive might that Jura commands earns him the respected title of the fifth-strongest Wizard Saint in Ishgar.

The Earth Dragon God

Character Debut Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, Chapter 108 “The Earth Awakes”
Affiliation Five Dragon Gods

The sequel to Fairy Tail’s “The 100 Year Quest” has introduced a variety of potent characters, and one of the most formidable among them is Dogramag, also known as the Earth Dragon God. Originally one of the Six Dragon Gods who took refuge in Guiltina due to Acnologia’s terror, it was believed that Dogramag had been killed by Elefseria. However, it turned out that he had merely entered a deep sleep for more than a century.

Using Earth Dragon Slayer Magic predominantly, Dogramag’s earth-based abilities are incredibly resilient and any manifestations born from his magic are protected against fire or damaging explosions. It was believed that he was slain by Elefseria, but instead, Dogramag combined with the earth itself, resulting in the creation of the Great Labyrinth of Dogra. The devastating might of his power is akin to a deity’s, as Dogramag can split the ground open to ensnare foes, ultimately leading to their suffocation and defeat.
