A new skin for Battlefield 6 is receiving backlash from players who feel it’s too outlandish and doesn’t fit the game’s realistic style. Many are concerned that Battlefield 6 is moving away from its historically grounded look too soon.
DICE promoted its new first-person shooter by highlighting its realistic style, especially in comparison to the more exaggerated tone of the popular Call of Duty series. The marketing included a dramatic trailer where Battlefield 6 seemingly destroyed celebrity look-alikes of Call of Duty characters.
Some Battlefield 6 Players Aren‘t Happy With All Season 1 Skins
Just under two weeks after a recent incident, EA revealed details about Season 1 of Battlefield 6, set to launch on October 28th. Some of the new character skins included in the season are drawing criticism from players, who feel they don’t look realistic. A lot of the complaints are focused on a skin called “Wicked Grin” for the Assault class, which features bright blue details and a cartoon-like smile on the neck covering.
I’ve been seeing a lot of discussion about the new skins, and it seems like the Samhain (for Engineer) and Fearmonger (for Assault) are getting some flak too. A lot of us feel the designs are just too much – they don’t really fit the tactical vibe of those classes. But the Wicked Grin skin is really standing out, and not in a good way for some. It’s super bright and colorful, while the Samhain and Fearmonger skins stick to darker, grayer tones. It just feels… different, and a lot of people are noticing!
Not Everyone Sees Colorful Battlefield 6 Skins as Problematic
I was really excited when DICE kept saying the new Battlefield would be more realistic with its character customization, especially compared to other games. But honestly, I’m starting to get a little worried. This new “Wicked Grin” camo seems silly, and while it’s not a huge deal on its own, it feels like they’re already moving away from that promise of a more grounded experience. A lot of us are frustrated because it feels like a “bait and switch” – the open beta had everyone in believable uniforms, and that felt right. Now it feels like that’s slipping away. Still, not everyone agrees it’s a big deal, and the discussion is still going on, so hopefully it won’t ruin the game.
If you want to use regular, realistic outfits, there are plenty. If someone wants to wear one with a bit of color, they can. It’s a video game, not real war.
Many fans responded to a complaint about an upcoming character skin, arguing that it fits the game’s style and isn’t a problem. Reddit user Bitemarkz pointed out that players who prefer realistic outfits have options, but others should be able to choose more colorful designs, adding, “It’s a video game, not a realistic depiction of war.” Beyond the new skins, Battlefield 6 Season 1 will also include new game modes, maps, weapons, and other fresh content.
