Pokémon Legends: Z-A features a large Pokédex with 230 Pokémon to collect, and that number will grow with the Mega Dimension DLC. Completing the Pokédex can be challenging, especially when trying to evolve Pancham.
Many Pokémon in Legends: Z-A need specific conditions to evolve, like trading or becoming very friendly, and Pancham’s evolution method is one of the strangest.
Looking to add a Pangoro to your Pokémon team, or just trying to fill out your Pokédex? We’ve got all the information you need.
How to Evolve Pancham in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Pancham has two conditions it needs to meet in Pokémon Legends: Z-A to evolve into Pangoro, and one of them is quite particular.
To evolve Pancham into Pangoro in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, it first needs to reach level 32. This shouldn’t be a problem, though, as the game makes it easy to gain experience, and you can also find plenty of EXP Candies to help boost its level.
There’s also a second condition: you need a Dark-type Pokémon in your team. If your Pancham is level 32 or higher and you have a Dark-type Pokémon with you, you can evolve it through the main menu.
If you want to evolve Pancham, you’ll need a Dark-type Pokémon. Several are available: Sandile, which is a Ground and Dark type, appears frequently in Wild Zone 8. You can also find Houndoor and its evolved form, Houndoom (which can sometimes be an Alpha Pokémon), in Wild Zone 6.
Can You Catch Pangoro in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
You can catch Pangoro directly in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, skipping the need to evolve Pancham – but it’s only available after you finish the main story.
In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you’ll encounter a powerful Pangoro as an Alpha Pokémon during Main Mission 40, which is part of the quest to catch Xerneas. Once you defeat it, you can catch it relatively easily with Ultra Balls. It’s a good idea to save your game before the battle, just to be safe.
You might also find Pangoro as an Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zone 20, but many other Pokémon can appear there too, such as Gyarados, Goodra, and Leafeon. To check for it quickly, repeatedly travel to and from Wild Zone 20 and look under the ruins of Prism Tower.
If you’ve started the Zygarde quest but haven’t caught it yet, you won’t find any Alpha Pokémon in this location. Instead, Zygarde will be here, waiting for you to challenge it.
