Pokemon Go player claims too many Team Rocket encounters could get you banned

As a seasoned Pokémon Go player with countless hours logged and a vast collection of pocket monsters under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of caution when it comes to the upcoming Team Go Rocket Takeover event. The tale of ‘Faladyne’, who was inadvertently banned from the game for interacting with too many Grunts, serves as a stark reminder that even the most casual encounters can lead to unintended consequences.

Soon, a Team Go Rocket Takeover event will arrive in Pokemon Go, sparking excitement among trainers as they anticipate the addition of fresh Shadow Pokemon, with the mighty Shadow Cresselia being one of them.

During the “Taken Over” event called Adventure Week, both Grunts and Leaders might alter their teams to create a more difficult experience for players. However, it’s crucial to exercise caution throughout this exciting event.

Reddit user ‘Faladyne’ deliberately had their account suspended, acting as a cautionary measure so others wouldn’t have to, following an interaction with 160 Team Go Rocket Grunts in a single day. They advised other trainers about the potential risk of getting banned due to excessive Grunt interactions.

For less experienced gamers, controlling 160 Grunts might seem quite challenging. However, the original poster pointed out that repeatedly engaging with the same Grunt character could lead to a similar situation.

It appears that exceeding the Grunt limit might occur when you “come across” a Team Go Rocket Grunt at a PokeStop. This means that if you don’t engage in a battle with the Grunt and defeat them, continuously spinning 160 black PokeStops could potentially lead to a seven-day ban from Pokemon Go.

In simpler terms, while some players mentioned that devices like the Pokemon Go Plus and other auto-catchers can spin PokeStops on their own, this action doesn’t contribute to any advancement within the game. Similarly, it’s been verified that Team Go Rocket Balloons do not count towards progress either. So, you can rest assured that your gameplay is unaffected by these features.

During the span from August 8th to 12th, The Adventure Week: Taken Over event will transpire. Consequently, expect the game map to brim with Team Go Rocket Grunts, providing ample opportunities for players to engage in combat during their leisure hours.

Previously, another user was suspended from play due to the system identifying their gaming behavior as “repetitive,” leading some to assume they were automated rather than human.

It appears that repeatedly engaging with Team Go Rocket Grunts during a single day might reach a certain threshold, though it hasn’t been explicitly stated whether this will always lead to a ban. Niantic has not made this specific limit known to the public at this time.
