Battlefield 6: Meta Guns for Each Class

In Battlefield 6, each player class has a specific role, and your success often depends on the weapons you choose and how you play that class. Using the best gear for the situation will always improve your performance, and a well-planned setup can help you earn more points each round.

In Battlefield 6, you can equip any weapon to any class, giving you a lot of freedom. But different guns are better suited for different situations and distances. This guide highlights the best guns, or ‘meta’ weapons, for each class in the game, taking into account how each class is meant to be played.

The Meta Guns of BF6

Shotguns M870A1 M1014 18.5KS-K
DMRs SVK M39 EMR SVDM LMR27
Pistols M44 P18 M45A1 ES 5.7

This list highlights the weapons players use most often in the game, giving you a sense of what’s popular. Keep in mind that while some guns perform better than others, the best weapon in BF6 is ultimately the one you enjoy playing with the most.

The BF6 meta during the immediate post-launch period of the game can be summed up as such:

  • SMGs and Carbines rule the meta.
  • Assault Rifles are awkward to use because of recoil and accuracy bloom.
  • Everything else is situational or preference-based.

Players often prefer carbines and SMGs over assault rifles because they’re easier to control, particularly when it comes to recoil. While assault rifles are still used, even the weaker SMGs and carbines generally perform better.

SMGs KV9 SCW-10 PW5A3 PW7A1 UMG-40
Shotguns M870A1 (Buckshot) M1014 (Buckshot) M1014 (Slugs) M870A1 (Slugs)

The Assault class leads the charge and sneaks behind enemy lines. They excel at eliminating enemy soldiers using explosives, smart tactics, and their own abilities. Players focusing on completing objectives should choose weapons that are deadly at close and medium ranges.

When it comes to close-quarters combat, the M433 and TR-7 assault rifles eliminate enemies the fastest. The TR-7 is especially effective on smaller maps. It can down an opponent with three body shots in just over 0.16 seconds thanks to its rapid fire rate of 720 rounds per minute. The M433 is also very quick, taking just 0.217 seconds for a body shot kill. It’s a great starting weapon and is easier to control than the TR-7.

On larger maps such as Liberation Peak and Operation Firestorm, medium-range weapons like the NVO and B36A4 are effective because they offer both good accuracy at long distances and enough power for close-quarters combat.

The weapons listed earlier are all solid choices, offering alternatives to our top picks. The M277 carbine is a bit different, though. It excels in close-quarters combat, but it’s surprisingly effective at medium range too, maintaining full damage up to 80 meters.

If you play as the Assault class and carry two main weapons, you’ll have half the maximum ammo for each one. To get more ammo, use only one main weapon.

Best Weapons for Engineer in Battlefield 6

Engineers primarily focus on providing support for vehicles. However, when heavy armor isn’t available, they become effective at destroying enemy cover and equipment. Unlike Assault class players who have a specific role, Engineers are versatile and can use almost any weapon – with the exception of sniper rifles, which we’ll discuss later.

As an Engineer, choosing the right weapon depends on how you like to fight and at what distance. Think about your preferred range and what you want to accomplish in battle.

  1. If you want to support the team’s vehicles, use medium-long range weapons.
  2. If you want to support infantry, bring close-medium range weapons and tools for countering enemy vehicles in BF6.

Our recommended weapons here don’t stray too far from the ones for the Assault class:

  • Replace the TR-7 for the NVO for close-medium range because the former is just too unwieldy for distances beyond 25 meters.
  • Replace the M417 A2 for the AK-205 because the latter is much more reliable at longer ranges.
  • The PW5A3 and PW7A2 are more adaptable to medium ranges than the KV9 and SCW-10
  • The SL9 and UMG-40 are great for medium-long range fights.

Similar to the Engineer, the Support class is very flexible. They can play aggressively with smoke grenades and lighter weapons, or hang back and provide covering fire for the team. Because of this versatility, we’ve organized their best weapons based on how players like to play, rather than just how far the weapons reach.

The aggressive weapons mentioned above are best for Support players who like to quickly engage enemies. Most of these perform well at close and medium distances, although the TR-7 is most effective up close.

Defensive weapons help the team by providing cover from the rear. They’re effective at stopping enemies from around 30 meters, either by keeping them pinned down or eliminating them with accurate shots from a distance.

Recon players are famous for sniping, but they’re also surprisingly effective at sneaking around like Assault players. Their specializations offer stealth bonuses, and their gadgets and UAVs help them track enemies. That’s why we’ve broken down the best Recon weapons in BF6 based on how you like to play.

Okay, so I’ve been playing around with the rifles, and honestly, the M2010 feels way more reliable than the SV-98 at medium distances – like, 100 to 200 meters. The PSR? That’s a beast for really long shots, but you almost never get those opportunities in a match. But hey, at the end of the day, any of these rifles can get the job done if you can actually land your shots!

Sniper rifles don’t seem to be very accurate when used by classes other than the Recon class. It’s currently unknown if this is by design.

If you prefer a Spec Ops style of play, lighter weapons are best for fighting at close and medium distances. Think of it like playing the Assault class: in Breakthrough, focus on attacking the enemy from behind. In Conquest or Escalation, try to capture objectives deep within enemy territory.
