As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Pokémon experience under my belt, I must confess that I find myself somewhat disheartened by the latest Team Rocket Leader lineups in Pokémon Go. The excitement of encountering these villainous characters has always been heightened by the potential to add some truly formidable Pokémon to my roster.
Evil leaders from Team Rocket have returned in Pokemon Go, this time with fresh Shadow teams. However, trainers find themselves surprised and disappointed by the unimpressive nature of the species they can capture from these Shadow lineups.
Each Takeover occasion brings fresh Pokemon to their squads, and you’ll often find at least one that is significant for Raids or the Go Battle League in terms of its strategic relevance.
However, recent teams led by Team Rocket have reached a new low, as Carvanha (Sierra), Lileep (Cliff), and Anorith (Arlo) are now available for capture. This news, spread by popular Pokemon Go player ‘PoGOCentral’ in a social media post, sparked anger within the community.
NEW SHINY SHADOW POKÉMON FROM TEAM GO ROCKET LEADERS

Historically, the heads of Team Rocket have been in possession of formidable pseudo-legendary groups, offering trainers menacing shadow variants of Salamence, Dragonite, Metagross, and Machamp. These captures boast impressive attacking capabilities, making them standouts within the game.
To my delight, it turned out that the Grunts had some impressive captures under their belt! The Fighting-type NPC even had a Shadow Timburr, which can evolve into the formidable Conkeldurr – a Pokémon known for its strength in the meta-game.
Additionally, players felt let down when Niantic chose Cresselia over Shadow Rayquaza for Giovanni’s team, as many had hoped for a change after seeing Kyogre and Groudon in the previous two rotations with Team Rocket Boss. The anticipation was high that the Leader teams would compensate for this.
Shadow Sharpened Shark (Carvanha’s evolution) can be useful in combating Fire, Ground, and Rock bosses during Raids, but its minimal durability or “bulk” makes it less valuable overall.
In simple terms, the Original Poster (OP) considered this rotation as one of the poorest ones, and everyone concurred. The spectators announced that they wouldn’t pay attention to fighting the Leaders until there’s a change in their team during the following Season.
In the end, no one could find any helpful Pokemon among these NPCs, leaving many to label them as worthless. One person even jokingly suggested, “This has to be a hoax.”
If battling Team Rocket in Pokemon Go doesn’t appeal to you, consider participating in Shadow Lugia Raids instead. You’ll earn a potent new member for your Master League team with victory.
