Pokemon GO: Egg Charts (August 2024)

As a seasoned Pokémon GO trainer with years of egg-hatching under my belt, let me tell you that this game has certainly taken a walk in the park and turned it into a treasure hunt! The thrill of hatching rare creatures is unparalleled, and nothing beats the excitement of seeing a Dratini or a Rockruff pop out from an egg.

In Generation 2, trainers could acquire new Pokemon through eggs, which was a novel method introduced back then. To get these eggs, you had to place a male and female Pokemon of the same Egg Group at the Daycare. However, eggs in Pokemon GO are quite distinct from their counterparts in the mainline games as they have undergone several changes.

In the game of Pokemon GO, you can get eggs from various sources like spinning PokeStops, confronting Team GO Rocket Leaders, among others. There are five distinct types of eggs in the game, identified by the distance required to hatch them, such as 2km or 7km eggs. To maximize your chances of catching specific Pokemon, it’s beneficial to understand which eggs will hatch which creatures and learn effective strategies for acquiring them.

How to Get Pokemon Eggs

Types of Pokemon Eggs

Pokemon GO: Egg Charts (August 2024)

There are six different Eggs in Pokemon GO:

  • 2km (Green spots)
  • 5km (Orange spots)
  • 7km (Yellow with pink spots)
  • 10km (Purple spots)
  • 12km (Red spots)
  • 5/10km Adventure Sync Eggs (Orange/Purple spots)

In the game ‘Pokémon GO’, eggs are divided based on the distance needed to walk before they hatch. The most common type of eggs require 2 kilometers to hatch, while 12 kilometer eggs are the least frequent. Each category of eggs hatches various species of Pokémon. However, if you’re aiming for a specific Pokémon species, it’s important to note that the Pokémon that can be hatched are chosen at random.

You may possess a maximum of 12 eggs in total. The 2km, 5km, 7km, and 10km eggs can be stored together in 9 available spaces, whereas the 12km eggs are kept separately in the Bonus Storage, which has 3 slots. To obtain each type of egg:

  • The 2km, 5km, and 10km Eggs can be obtained by spinning Poke Stops.
  • 7km Eggs are obtained in Gifts.
  • 12km Eggs can only be obtained by defeating Team Rocket Leaders or Giovanni.
  • 5km and 10km Adventure Sync Eggs can only be obtained by walking 25km (5km Egg) or 50km (10km Egg) within a week. The reward is given out on 12:00am Monday (local).

How to Hatch Eggs

Hatching Experience and More

Pokemon GO: Egg Charts (August 2024)

Every player of Pokemon GO will get a single Egg Incubator that can be used an infinite number of times. Additional Egg Incubators, like the blue ones, must be bought from the game’s in-store using PokeCoins. These blue incubators can be utilized up to three times before they become unusable. A Super Incubator will reduce the distance needed for an Egg to hatch; for instance, a 12km Egg would only require 8km instead of 12km to hatch. Similar to the regular Egg Incubator, the Super Incubator will also become unusable after three uses. An Egg Incubator costs 150 PokeCoins and the Super Incubator costs 200 PokeCoins. Occasionally, Egg Incubators may appear in Limited Time Only deals at the Shop.

When hatching an egg, steps taken on foot will be the ones that count towards the distance. Distance traveled by car or any other vehicle won’t be included in the calculation.

Incubating eggs not only gives you the thrill of hatching a Pokémon, but also rewards you with specific Pokémon Candy for the species that hatches. Additionally, your newly-hatched Pokémon will earn Experience Points (XP) and Stardust. Different from XP, the quantity of Candy and Stardust you receive will be chosen at random within a predefined range.

Type of Egg XP Candy Stardust
2km 500 Up to 15 Candy 400-800
5km 1000 Up to 21 Candy 800-1600
7km 1500 Up to 21 Candy 800-1600
10km 2000 Up to 32 Candy 1600-3200
12km 4000 Up to 32 Candy 3200-6400
