In The Outer Worlds 2, each companion has a unique personal quest. For Inez, you can help her fix the graft on her arm, potentially allowing her to rejoin the Auntie’s Choice army. If you accept this quest, called ‘Better Than Nature,’ you’ll need to visit Ethel and defeat either a Raptidon Matriarch, a Skeleton Crabble, or both, to obtain a graft for Inez. Helping Inez extends her lifespan and unlocks a combat perk. The question is, which graft will you choose for her: the Raptidon Matriarch or the Skeleton Crabble?
Should You Choose the Raptidon Matriarch or Skeleton Crabble Graft for Inez in Outer Worlds 2’s ‘Better Than Nature’ Quest?
Active Camo or Armor Piercing?
Inez receives a unique ability from each of the two grafts. The Raptidon Matriarch graft allows her to use active camouflage, letting her deliver health packs while staying hidden from enemies. The Skeleton Crabble, however, enables her to fire armor-piercing bullets, drastically decreasing the time it takes to defeat enemies.
After trying both options, I decided the Skeleton Crabble graft was better for Inez. It helps deal with tougher enemies by piercing their armor, and she usually dropped a health pack for me anyway, unlike the Raptidon Matriarch graft which just gave her camouflage.
Yes, she occasionally fell during battles, but I usually managed to get her back up quickly with minimal damage to myself. If that didn’t work, I could either win the fight alone or with help from my other teammate.
Ultimately, the choice depends on how you like to play. If you usually play cautiously in fights, having Inez stay safe while getting health packs might be better for you. But if you prefer a more aggressive, all-out attack style, giving Inez more firepower will likely be more effective.
This quest has two goals: defeating each creature. However, you only need to beat one to finish it. It’s still a good idea to defeat both, though. The cave where you fight the Raptidon Matriarch provides a quick route to the Vox Relay, and completing both objectives will give you more experience points, helping you level up more quickly.
Just so you know, once you pick a graft for Inez, you can’t go back and change it later. You’re stuck with that choice for the rest of the game. If you want to test both grafts out, I suggest saving your game before making a decision. That way, you can try each one and see which you prefer.
