Battlefield 6 Season 1’s New Weapons Will Dominate the Next Meta

I’ve had a chance to play with the first season of Battlefield 6, and I’m impressed – some of the new features are genuinely excellent. The first part of Season 1, called Rogue Ops, introduces three new weapons on October 28th. Although quite different from each other, each weapon has the potential to become a top choice for players. In fact, these three new Battlefield 6 weapons are likely to be among the best in their categories.

The recent Battlefield 6 Season 1 test featured only three new weapons – those initially released for the season. This limited selection was actually beneficial, allowing players ample time to thoroughly test each weapon both in matches and in the practice range. Based on that testing and careful analysis, it’s clear these weapons will likely be the most powerful and frequently used in the next Battlefield 6 meta.

All of Battlefield 6 Season 1’s Weapons, Explained

The first season of Battlefield 2042 will introduce five new weapons through three updates. These updates – Rogue Ops (October 28th), California Resistance (November 18th), and Winter Offensive (December 9th) – will roll out over the season.

Rogue Ops Weapons:

  • The SOR-300SC (Carbine)
  • The Mini Scout (Sniper)
  • The GGH-22 (Sidearm)

California Resistance Weapons:

  • The DB-12 (Shotgun)
  • The M357 Trait (Revolver)

Winter Offensive Weapons:

  • The Ice Climbing Axe (Melee)

I recently got to try out some weapons from the first part of Battlefield 6‘s Season 1, called Rogue Ops, and I was really impressed! They only let us test three, but each one felt fantastic for different reasons, which I’ll explain below.

The SOR-300SC: A Carbine to Dethrone the M4A1

The SOR-300SC might not immediately stand out, but it’s a powerful weapon when used effectively. While it has the slowest fire rate of any carbine in Battlefield 6, it compensates with high damage – matching the SG 553R and M417 A2 for the highest damage per second. It’s also easier to control than other carbines, and with the right attachments, it can become incredibly accurate.

The SOR-300SC’s performance really depends on the situation. While it probably won’t win in a very close-range fight against someone skilled with a well-equipped M4A1, it excels at longer distances. Plus, it has the second-fastest reload speed of any carbine, letting you quickly get back into the action.

The Mini Scout: Battlefield 6’s New Best Sniper Rifle

Season 1 introduces the Mini Scout, a sniper rifle inspired by the Scout Elite from Battlefield 4. This weapon is designed for fast-moving Recon players who want to quickly eliminate targets. It’s smaller and more agile than other sniper rifles, with a rapid fire and reload speed. The Mini Scout also boasts improved recoil control and a quick aim-down-sights (ADS) speed, and it holds 10 rounds in its magazine.

While this sniper rifle is incredibly fast, it shouldn’t last as long due to wear and tear, but in reality, that’s not really an issue. It deals 80 damage, compared to 100 for other snipers in Battlefield 6. However, because headshots are multiplied by 1.75x, the difference is hardly noticeable for skilled players. This new sniper already has a lot going for it – it’s quick, lightweight, and just as lethal as the others. It’s especially useful for Recon players who prefer a 4x scope for closer-range combat.

The GGH-22: Definitely Not a Glock

The GGH-22 is the final, and least remarkable, new weapon. While it’s a decent pistol, clearly influenced by the Glock, it doesn’t offer a significant improvement over existing options. It has a 15-round magazine and a slightly faster bullet speed than the standard P18, but that’s about it. Considering the limited variety typically found in pistols, however, it’s not entirely surprising.

The GGH-22 is unique among the new weapons arriving in the first part of Battlefield 6 Season 1, as it doesn’t appear to be launching with any special weapon bundles.

New Weapons and Weapon Packages Coming in Season 1

The GGH-22 pistol is a nice addition, but the two main new weapons coming to Battlefield 6 on October 28th are the real highlights. Even better, each new weapon has unique cosmetic options, and all existing weapons will get new looks too. This is great because, based on early testing, the Rogue Ops weapons will likely be very popular on the battlefield, so having more variety will keep things fresh.
