Bagon is a highly sought-after Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, especially for trainers who love Dragon-types. With Mega Evolutions returning, players can look forward to unleashing the powerful Salamence again. If you’re hoping to train this fantastic Pokémon and one of the strongest in the game, you’ve come to the right place!
This guide will show trainers how to find Bagon, evolve it into Salamence, and locate the Mega Stone required to achieve Mega Salamence.
How to Get Bagon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
You can find Bagon wandering around the central part of Wild Zone 18 at any time of day. Keep an eye out for an Alpha Salamence too, as it frequently appears in the same area alongside Bagon.
Bagon is a Dragon-type Pokémon known for its powerful evolution line. It eventually becomes Shelgon, and finally, Salamence – a Pokémon that can even become stronger through Mega Evolution, making it a great asset to any Pokémon team.
How to Evolve Bagon in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Bagon becomes Shelgon at level 30, and then evolves into Salamence at level 50. If you have a Salamencite, Salamence can also Mega Evolve.
You can get the Mega Stone needed to Mega Evolve Salamence after finishing Main Mission 35 and achieving Rank A. Once that’s done, you can buy it at Quasartico Inc. for 360 Mega Shards.

You can get more Mega Shards—used to buy Mega Stones—by breaking Mega Crystals found throughout Lumiose City.
Salamence is considered a Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon because its base stats total 600 – almost as high as those of the most powerful Legendary Pokémon. What sets Salamence apart from other Dragon-types is its wide range of moves, particularly when learned through Technical Machines, giving it excellent coverage against many different types of opponents.
When Salamence Mega Evolves, its overall stats jump to 700. Its Attack power increases significantly by 50 points, and its Speed goes up by 20. All other stats, excluding HP, receive a boost of 10. This makes Mega Salamence a powerful physical attacker with a well-rounded stat distribution, making it a formidable opponent against any Pokémon.
What really makes Salamence and Mega Salamence strong in both raiding and player battles is their ability to learn Earthquake. This powerful Ground-type attack is effective against many of the most popular Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Z-A, and its area-of-effect damage helps Salamence/Mega Salamence fight back against other physically strong attackers, like Mega Tyranitar and Mega Lucario.
