Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's Next Season Needs More Story

Highlights

  • New playable villain characters like Joker and Mrs. Freeze introduced in recent seasons lack depth in pushing the game’s story forward.
  • Looking ahead, upcoming DLC additions like Zoe Lawton and Deathstroke present an opportunity to delve deeper into the game’s narrative.
  • Adding more lore about conquered alternate Earths in the game could increase player interest in completing each new season.

As a long-time gamer who’s been through his fair share of DC Comics games, I can say that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has certainly lived up to my expectations… and then some! The introduction of new villain characters like Joker and Mrs. Freeze was a welcome addition, but I must admit, they could have done more to push the story forward.

Starting from Spring 2024, the game “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” has been enriching its storyline by introducing new characters to play with. These new villains originate from different dimensions where Brainiacs have conquered other Earths. In Season 1, a younger version of the Joker was recruited, and in the latest Season 2, a character known as Mrs. Freeze, who is female, hesitantly became part of the squad.

In other dimensions highlighted within the expansive DC Comics universe, these new additions have not significantly advanced or added complexity to the narrative of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This may change in future seasons as characters like Zoe Lawton, the daughter of Deadshot, and Deathstroke are introduced, potentially enriching both the storyline and character development.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s Story So far

As a devoted fan, I’m eagerly anticipating “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” a thrilling game brought to life by Rocksteady Studios. This epic adventure unfolds in the same captivating universe as the iconic “Batman: Arkham” series. Five years after the climactic events of “Batman: Arkham Knight,” we find ourselves in a precarious situation where Amanda Waller, ARGUS Director, has no choice but to assemble Task Force X, also known as the Suicide Squad. The Justice League is under attack, this time by Brainiac and his relentless invaders overtaking Metropolis.

Ultimately, the team uncovers that this particular Brainiac isn’t merely attacking Arkham Earth; instead, it’s collaborating with a dozen other alternate versions of Brainiac to conquer the multiverse. In the final stages of the main Suicide Squad game, they manage to vanquish the Arkham Brainiac, but their task isn’t complete yet – they must journey to various Earths to eliminate the local Brainiacs and halt the multiversal takeover. Over two seasons and an additional four episodes beyond the base game, the team has successfully eliminated four Brainiacs from the Brainiac Kill List. The Joker joined the Squad following his own squad’s defeat at the hands of his Brainiac, while Mrs. Freeze froze her Earth after facing Brainiac in battle was deemed impossible to win.

In the world of DC Comics, Mrs. Freeze, a character different from the original, has been portrayed as an antagonist rather than a female version of Victor Fries who was resurrected instead.

More Story-Focused Suicide Squad DLCs

In the upcoming seasons of “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” characters like Zoe Lawton and Deathstroke are anticipated to join the playable roster. These expansions present an opportunity for Rocksteady to further explore the game’s narrative. It’s possible these new recruits might hail from different dimensions, similar to how Joker and Freeze did previously. However, the inclusion of Deathstroke could bring intricate themes into play, as he was the one who supposedly defeated Batman in “Batman: Arkham Origins” and then went on to eliminate the rest of the Justice League. This backstory could suggest that his world was more susceptible to Brainiac’s invasion and might lead to him feeling remorseful about his actions.

In Zoe Lawton’s scenario, she might hail from an Earth where her father perished instead of the infamous Deadshot. As revealed in the A.R.G.U.S. tapes, Floyd Lawton (Deadshot) admitted to killing the other Deadshot, narrowly escaping death by a mere couple millimeters at the hands of a couple. If this Zoe Lawton assumed her father’s role as the new Deadshot, she may have taken out both the other Deadshot and John Stewart (Green Lantern).

Expanded Details on Suicide Squad’s Alternate Earths

Although not much has been revealed yet on how the Brainiacs conquered other Earths, Rocksteady could expand these stories through additional dialogue or collectibles. While Brainiac is indeed formidable, various books and games like Injustice 2 demonstrate that the Justice League, or even Superman individually, can pose a significant threat to the Coluan. Enhancing the lore of these alternate Earths by detailing their differences or conquest methods could pique players’ interest in finishing each new season in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
