As a seasoned Guardian who has weathered countless battles against the dark forces of the universe, I must say that the return of Destiny 2’s Summer Solstice event feels like a warm, familiar embrace. The new armor sets and weapons this year are truly luminous, and they add a touch of radiance to my battle-worn armor.
As someone who has been a dedicated Destiny 2 player for years now, I must say that this year’s Summer Solstice event is shaping up to be quite exciting! Although the basic format isn’t drastically different from previous years, the addition of luminous new armor sets and refreshed Solstice weapons has definitely caught my attention.
Let’s get started! Players can jump into the ongoing Solstice activities of Destiny 2 immediately, with the event lasting for the next three weeks until August 27th. For some, this might appear as ample time, but for others, obtaining their preferred God Roll weapons within a few weeks could be quite a task. Luckily, getting started isn’t difficult – veterans will find the process familiar since this year’s Solstice event reintroduces the Bonfire Bash in the European Aerial Zone. In this event, players collaborate to defeat bosses, fuel bonfires, and collect Silver Leaves, which can be exchanged for a variety of Solstice-themed rewards.
How to Get Started in Destiny 2’s Solstice Event This Year
Eva Levante has returned to the heart of Destiny 2’s social area once more as the seasonal merchant, ready to assist Guardians in maximizing their enjoyment during the Solstice. This year, she offers the Solstice Forge item, which adds a new twist to the Solstice event: instead of collecting event gear through activities, players can now create their own using the Forge. The Solstice Forge item can be found in the director’s Quest tab and allows players to redeem Solstice bounties using Silver Leaves. Each completed bounty rewards alloys that contribute to specific armor pieces; however, only one bounty can be held at a time, making the process of unlocking a complete Solstice armor set a progressive journey.
Players will need to collect 100 armor-specific alloys to redeem any armor piece – for example, 100 Helmet Alloys will yield the Solstice helmet piece. After this, players can even enhance their armor’s appearance by upgrading it with 500 alloys per piece. This year’s Solstice event introduces a whole new set of event-themed armor for each class in Destiny 2, with these new sets marking something of a departure from previous ones. These new sets are particularly illuminated and flashy, pairing nicely with many colorful shaders.
Which Weapons to Keep An Eye Out For During This Year’s Solstice in Destiny 2
Joining the Solstice event this year will grant players bonus rewards, such as specific weapons from previous years like the Something New Stasis hand cannon, Crowning Dialogue Strand rocket launcher, and Compass Rose Solar shotgun. For those who enjoy PvP gameplay, the Compass Rose is highly recommended for farming this season due to its unique perk combination of Opening Shot and Slickdraw being well-liked among players. Another popular weapon in Destiny 2’s new Solstice void bow, Fortunate Star, has garnered attention because it can drop with desirable perks like Repulsor Brace, Destabilizing Rounds, and Golden Tricorn.
