Everyone loves collecting loot! Finding valuable items and random drops keeps games interesting for longer and lets players create different ways to play. The thrill of getting better gear with each new discovery is a classic part of gaming. Plus, rare and powerful items give players something extra to chase, a bit of luck to test, and a chance to show off their accomplishments to others.
There are a lot of games focused on collecting powerful items – from action RPGs to shooters and open-world adventures. This year alone, players have enjoyed games like Borderlands 4, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and The First Berserker: Khazan, plus many smaller titles with rewarding loot systems. And even more are coming soon! Here’s a look at some of the biggest upcoming loot-focused games.
Path of Exile 2
A New Icon for Loot Lovers for Years Ahead
Even though Path of Exile 2 is currently available in early access, it still has a ways to go before its official release (the current version, with The Third Edict, is 0.3.1). And, like the first game, that release will likely be just the beginning for this expansive sequel. The original Path of Exile didn’t gain a large player base—over 100,000 daily players—until late 2018, though it did see occasional surges in popularity. This makes it hard to predict how Path of Exile 2 will perform, especially since the developers are still trying out new features with varying degrees of success.
Even in its early stages, Path of Exile 2 delivers impressive loot. The game features over 700 different types of equipment, each with variations. Combined with the deep skill system – using over 240 active and 200 passive gems socketed into gear – players have incredible freedom to create unique and powerful builds. Whether you enjoy trying out early access versions or prefer a fully polished game, Path of Exile 2 is definitely one to watch for anyone who loves finding great loot.
Titan Quest 2
For ARPG Fans Who Don’t Want Their Games to Feel Like a Second Job
The action RPG Titan Quest 2 entered early access a few months ago and has been well-received by players. Although the game doesn’t have a ton of content just yet, it looks like the series is in capable hands. Grimlore Games understands what fans want, and the recently released second chapter, The Northern Beaches, is a great demonstration of that.
Unlike Path of Exile 2, which is constantly changing, Titan Quest 2 stays true to the original game’s core. This means you can enjoy the game in short bursts without feeling pressured by ongoing events or needing to keep up with constant updates. You’ll still find great loot, including powerful legendary items that can define your character build. Recent updates, like the changes to item stats in The Northern Beaches chapter – which were made based on player feedback – have made finding new items even more rewarding, and it’s exciting to see what improvements are coming next.
Nioh 3
Next Chapter to Deliver on Soulslike-Slash-ARPG Combo
Unlike earlier action RPGs focused on collecting loot, Nioh 3 is designed like the challenging ‘Souls’ games, but with its own unique style. It combines the difficult combat of those games with fast-paced action, and still includes a strong loot system. Players will find rare items dropped by enemies, bosses, and chests, which they can use to create powerful character builds and discover even more advanced strategies through gear sets.
Nioh 3 is changing things up with larger, more open levels that give players more freedom to explore, and it’s adding two new ways to fight. However, the game’s loot system will likely remain similar to previous installments. This has divided players – some want a complete overhaul of how loot works, while others are excited to spend hours collecting the best items and experiencing everything the endgame has to offer.
Gods, Death & Reapers
Extraction ARPG for Those Willing to Risk Their Loot
The team behind Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is creating Gods, Death & Reapers, a new game that mixes the classic gameplay of isometric action RPGs like Wolcen with the tension of extraction-based games. The main game mode is a challenging PvPvE experience where you can find valuable loot, but losing a fight means losing everything you’ve collected.
If the game seems a bit intense, don’t worry! Gods, Death & Reapers also offers more relaxed options, like a single-player story mode for those who prefer to play alone, and co-op play where you can team up with friends. The developers plan to add even more modes after the game launches, so hopefully it’s popular enough to receive continued support and reach its full potential.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 3
Guns, Lots of Guns

- Developer: Massive Entertainment
- Release Date: TBA
- Pictured is loot from The Division 2
Details about the next Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 are still very limited, but Ubisoft has confirmed it’s being developed. It’s hard to say when the game will be released, and with no trailer or information about the setting yet, it’s likely to be a while. Current reports suggest a release no earlier than 2027, though that could change. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment might have some surprises in store for fans.
One thing we know for sure is that The Division 3 will continue to feature the core gameplay elements of its predecessors, especially its extensive loot system. The Division games are known for offering players a lot of rare and powerful gear to collect – including complete gear sets and exotic items that are difficult to find. Players can also heavily customize and craft their equipment. The Division 2 already has one of the best loot systems in gaming, so it will be interesting to see how The Division 3 improves upon it.
