Halo: Campaign Evolved PS5 Version Has an Advantage Over Xbox

Okay, so I was checking out the PlayStation Store page for Halo: Campaign Evolved, and it looks like the PS5 version might have some cool extras the Xbox version won’t get. It seems like they’re going to really use the DualSense controller – you know, with the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers – to make the game even more immersive. It’s a small thing they mentioned, but it sounds like it could add a lot to the experience!

For over twenty years, Xbox and PlayStation have been rivals in the gaming console market, a competition that began when the first Xbox launched in 2001. The original Xbox found huge success with the popular first-person shooter Halo: Combat Evolved. So, gamers were surprised to learn in late October that Halo: Combat Evolved is coming to the PlayStation 5 – it will be the first Halo game ever released on a PlayStation console, and it’s launching at the same time as other new games.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Will Take Advantage of PS5 DualSense Features

The upcoming game has now been listed on the PlayStation Store, allowing fans to add it to their wish lists, even though pre-orders aren’t open yet. The listing is mostly the same as the one on the Microsoft Store, describing the features of the Halo: Combat Evolved remake. However, Push Square noticed a small detail suggesting the PlayStation 5 version might be better. It confirms the game will take advantage of the DualSense controller’s unique features, including its vibration and trigger effects. While Xbox Series X|S controllers also have these features, the PS5’s DualSense controller is generally considered more advanced and immersive.

Although the store description doesn’t highlight it, the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller has a significant edge with its adaptive triggers – if the game actually supports the feature. Xbox controllers have included Impulse Triggers since the Xbox One launched in 2013, using vibration to give players feedback when they press the triggers, like the feeling of firing a weapon. However, the DualSense’s adaptive triggers take immersion further. They can change how much resistance you feel, and give developers more control to realistically simulate in-game actions.

Both game store pages highlight that the game will support full crossplay and allow players to carry their progress across different platforms. While there won’t be any traditional competitive multiplayer in Halo: Campaign Evolved, up to four players can enjoy the original campaign and three new story missions together, no matter what device they’re playing on.
