Pokemon Go players left searching for shiny that doesn’t exist after dev mistake

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say, Niantic, you’ve really outdone yourself this time! The cat and mouse game you’re playing with us, your players, has become more like a rollercoaster ride – filled with twists, turns, and unexpected drops.

Unfortunately, Niantic accidentally announced the arrival of a new Shiny Shadow in Pokémon GO, leading players to work tirelessly towards catching it. However, upon reaching their goal, they discovered that the release had actually not taken place yet!

During The Adventure Week, the Takeover Event Introduced Fresh Teams from Team Go Rocket, Showcasing Various Shadow Pokémon Ready for Collection. Shadow Archen is One of These, But Players Were Surprised When the Developers Mentioned on X that Shiny Versions of Shadow Archen Could Be Obtained from Grunts.

In simpler terms, if an Archen (a Shadow species) has a shimmering appearance, it means that it was once under the leadership of one of Team Rocket’s leaders in a past lineup. However, since Arlo, Sierra, and Cliff didn’t control an Archen during their tenure, the shiny version of its Shadow form shouldn’t be accessible to them.

In other words, after Reddit user ‘TrainerDaasC’ posted X and posed the question to Niantic about potential mistakes, numerous players weighed in with affirmative responses.

According to the official Twitter account shiny shadow Archen is available? I’m guessing this is NOT true and yet another mistake?

In simpler terms, Archen with a shadowy appearance is the main Pokémon that makes up the group of Grunts whose types are either Rock or Flying. You’ll be able to catch it once you have successfully defeated any of those two antagonistic non-player characters (NPCs).

During the Adventure Week, the event emphasizes Pokemon fossils such as Shadow Archen. Consequently, these Pokemon are commonly found among the Grunts. Yet, surprisingly, many trainers globally have failed to locate its shimmering variant, contrary to expectations.

In a short while, the Pokemon Go account labeled as ‘X’ mistakenly posted incorrect details about Shadow Archen and subsequently published another update, omitting any reference to its shiny version this time around.

Enthusiasts labeled the experience as “extremely awkward” and “absurd,” as they put in great effort to snag a scarce catch. A trainer noted, “I managed to secure one after an interaction with a rocket team PokéStop battle, but I missed out on a shimmering one.”

Although the shimmering form of Shadow Archen hasn’t been introduced in the game as of now, its normal version can be made shiny. Interestingly, it can be encountered with increased chances during the Field and Timed Research tasks of the Adventure Week event, which is ongoing until August 12, 2024.

Once you’ve successfully defeated the Team Rocket Grunts and Leaders, remember that the final challenge awaits – a battle against Team Rocket’s Boss, Giovanni. He will have Shadow Cresselia, a Legendary Pokémon, on his squad.
