To ensure your sanctuary remains secure from intruders, it’s crucial to establish defensive structures as well. While Gatling Cannons provide formidable stationary firepower, they can be a bit perplexing for new players to acquire and operate effectively.
In the ongoing season of your current “Once Human” server, players will have the opportunity to construct their personal Gatling Cannons at a later point. Given their high cost, this delay is understandable. If you aim to strengthen your base defenses or engage in Prime Wars, here’s what you’ll need to craft your own cannons.
How To Build Gatling Cannons in Once Human
To acquire the design for Gatling Cannons in crafting, you need to buy the Close Defense Turret I from the Building section of the Memetics interface. This requires 7 Meme Points or Ciphers and 2000 Energy Links. Keep in mind that this is a Tier 4 meme, so you’ll need to have previously purchased all lower-tier memes, and it may not be available until the second phase of the ongoing season starts.
To build a Tier 1 Gatling Cannon, you’ll need the following materials:
- 10 Iridium Crystals
- 30 Aluminum Ingots
- 30 Special Parts
- 10 Barreled Premium Fuel
In the game Once Human, you can find Iridium Crystals by exploring levels 31 to 40 for scavenging, and Special Parts are gained by disassembling items discovered in advanced regions. Aluminum Ingots are produced in an Electric Furnace by combining Aluminum Ore and Acid. Alternatively, Barreled Premium Fuel can be acquired either by refining Portable Mixed Fuel or by participating in Workshop Defense events.
Upgraded Cannons
To acquire a enhanced Gatling Cannon, you need to buy the Close Defense Turret II memetic at the cost of 10 Ciphers and 5000 Energy Links. This improved model has the following requirements:
- 10 Platinum Crystal
- 30 Tungsten Ingot
- 30 Aluminum Ingot
- 30 Automatic Parts
- 15 Barreled Premium Fuel
You can gather all necessary resources for the upgraded Gatling Cannon version from scavenging and gathering materials in areas level 40 and above.
How To Use Gatling Cannons
Instead of automatic base defense turrets, Gatling Cannons require a player to operate them, or they will remain inactive. Also, you’ll need ammunition for these cannons, with Biomass Missiles being the easiest type to obtain. These missiles are included in the Gatling Cannon blueprint from the Close Defense Turret I crafting recipe. To construct a single Gatling Cannon, you will need a Synthesis Bench and the following materials:
- 15 Steel Ingot
- 20 Stardust Source
- 1 Barreled Premium Fuel
When using a Gatling Cannon, it will automatically draw ammunition from your stockpile and load it into the weapon itself. To launch Biomass Missiles, simply click the left mouse button, and to unleash Red Plasma Rounds (provided you have some), click the right mouse button.
Obtaining steel is relatively straightforward, but procuring the others in substantial amounts will prove challenging. Gathering resources from the Stardust Source in Once Human can be laborious if you lack specific Specializations, and the heavy expenditure on ammunition might displease some players given how much Stardust Source is needed for upgrading equipment.
