As a seasoned gamer with countless hours logged into various consoles, I can’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia and disappointment when I see titles like Lost Judgment, Sea of Stars, and even Destroy All Humans leaving PlayStation Plus Extra. These games have provided me with countless hours of entertainment and shared memorable moments with friends.
5 additional games from the PlayStation Plus Extra collection will be removed from the service earlier than initially planned, come August 2024. Unlike the free games offered through the Essential tier, which can be kept as long as a subscription remains active, the titles in the Extra and Premium tiers are more similar to services like Netflix or Xbox Game Pass – they offer a vast library of games but regularly update the selection available.
Every month, fresh games are added to PS Plus Extra and Premium for subscribers to explore. Simultaneously, on the same day, some games are taken off these services as well. This pattern continues in August 2024. Although PlayStation Plus members aren’t certain about the new arrivals for August 2024, they are aware that at least 10 titles will be leaving.
Previously, it was confirmed through the PlayStation Plus Last Chance to Play section that several games including “Destroy All Humans: Reprobed,” “NBA 2K24,” “Need for Speed Unbound,” “SpellForce 3 Reforced,” and “Trials of Mana” were due to leave. Now, five more games have been added to the list as observed by Push Square, increasing the total number of departures to 10. The new additions are “Destroy All Humans,” “Lost Judgment,” “Midnight Fight Express,” “Moving Out 2,” and “Sea of Stars.” It’s anticipated that all these games will be taken off from PS Plus Extra on August 20th.

Some popular titles are departing from PS Plus Extra in August. The remastered versions of “Destroy All Humans” have a nostalgic feel, and “Lost Judgment” belongs to Sega’s “Like a Dragon” series. “Moving Out 2” is an excellent multiplayer game for enjoying with friends, while “Sea of Stars” was one of the unique day-one additions to PS Plus Extra. “Sea of Stars” received significant praise from critics and is unfortunate to be removed from PS Plus Extra, especially since it’s slated to receive an update that will introduce local co-op play.
Although it’s disappointing that some games are being taken off PS Plus Extra, there are fresh titles joining the service this month too! Sony is expected to announce the new PS Plus Extra and Premium games for August 2024 on Wednesday, August 14, or around that date. In the interim, rumors suggest that “Secret Agent Clank” might be making its way to PS Plus Premium, but it’s yet to be confirmed whether this will happen as part of the August 2024 additions.
