I just heard some really concerning news about Amazon. Apparently, they’re planning to lay off as many as 30,000 people who work in their corporate offices. What’s especially worrying for me is that reports say Amazon Games and Twitch are likely to be affected by these cuts, and I’m hoping it won’t impact the games and streams I enjoy.
Bloomberg reports that Amazon is planning layoffs impacting both its video game and cloud computing departments. TopMob has contacted Amazon for details on how many gaming employees will be affected, but has not yet received a response.
Reuters first reported the significant layoffs. These cuts are the largest Amazon has made since 2022, when around 27,000 employees were let go. This new round of layoffs is the biggest in the company’s history, and affected employees will be notified by email.
TopMob will continue to report on the layoffs, including updates on what’s happening with Amazon Games, as more information becomes available.
What are your thoughts on the recent layoffs at Amazon Games? Share your opinions in the comments below, and feel free to join the TopMob Discord server to discuss!
