Vanillite is a rare Ice-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Z-A, and it’s become surprisingly useful in both single-player and competitive battles. With some effort to catch and train it, players will find it’s a strong addition to their team.
This guide covers everything you need to know about Vanillite in PokĆ©mon Legends Z-A, including where to find it and how to evolve it into Vanillish and then Vanilluxe. We’ll also break down its stats, best moves, and how to effectively train it with EVs.
Where To Find Vanillite in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Vanillite is an Ice-type PokĆ©mon found in both games. It’s most active during the daytime, so that’s the best time to find and catch one.
Catching this PokĆ©mon is just the first stepātraining it will be challenging! It has very low HP, making it powerful offensively but fragile defensively. However, evolving it into Vanillish and then Vanilluxe will significantly boost its overall strength.
How To Evolve Vanillite into Vanillish & Vanilluxe in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Vanillite becomes Vanillish at level 35, and then evolves into Vanilluxe at level 47. This two-step evolution might seem similar to how some other PokƩmon evolve, which could be confusing for trainers.
- To evolve Vanillite, players need to open the menu by pressing X.
- Then, in Vanillite’s thumbnail menu, they should select ‘Evolve.’
- When the animation concludes, Vanillite should have evolved into Vanillish.
- The same process can be repeated once Vanillish reaches level 47.
Skills like Icy Wind and Blizzard, which hit multiple enemies in a targeted area, have been significantly changed and aren’t very effective in battles now. The current best strategies focus on consistent area-of-effect attacks, fast physical attacks, or close-range moves like Brave Bird and Extreme Speed.
Vanilluxe is an Ice-type PokĆ©mon with a base stat total of 535. While this isn’t as high as some other Ice-types like Glalie or Froslass, Vanilluxe can still be a powerful attacker. It doesn’t have a Mega Evolution, but its movepool allows it to deal significant damage with Ice-type attacks.
In Pokemon Legends Z-A, Vanilluxe works best with either a Relaxed (+Defense, -Speed) or Bold (+Defense, -Attack) nature. Since Vanilluxe doesnāt rely on Attack, Bold is generally preferred, as Speed still matters in battles. To maximize its stats, use one of these EV spreads: 252 HP / 252 Special Attack / 6 Speed, or 252 HP / 252 Defense / 6 Special Attack.

A great moveset for this PokĆ©mon includes Ice Beam, which has good range and power, plus a quick recharge time. Mist is useful for blocking moves that lower stats. Acid Armor raises Defense, making it tougher against physical attacks. Finally, Freeze-Dry is a powerful area-of-effect Ice-type move that has a high chance of freezing opponents, and it’s especially effective against Water-types.
If you want to use Vanilluxe during the main story, be aware that PokƩmon with strong close-range attacks pose the biggest threat. Protect Vanillite by using Mist and Acid Armor, which will allow it to effectively use its Ice Beam attack.
When enemies get too close for comfort, I love using Freeze-Dry with Vanilluxe. It’s kind of like Earthquake ā it hits everything around me in a wide area and really keeps those close-range attackers away. It’s a lifesaver!
