Duet Night Abyss is a game told through two different storylines. You’ll play as one of two main characters, and you’ll be able to switch between them as you progress. Here’s an introduction to both main characters in the game.

Duet Night Abyss features four key characters. You begin by choosing one of two protagonists, and a third important character is introduced as you advance through the story.

Second Main Character In Duet Night Abyss

You’ll meet the second main character in Duet Night Abyss during the “Beyond the Sands” quest. This quest becomes available after you complete “The Black Iron and White Flower” mission, which also unlocks co-op play in DNA, and requires you to reach Trial Rank 24.

Once you select the second main character, you’ll begin a new series of main quests in a completely different location than the first character’s story.

I’m really excited because the second main character is eventually going to make it back to where the first one is! Right now, though, in the initial release, they don’t actually do anything together except when they’re both in the dream world. Which makes sense, considering the second character was first presented as being ‘The Boy/Girl in the Dream’ – it all fits together!

Each major character comes in two versions – there’s a first main character and a second, and each of these pairs shares the same default name, no matter which version you choose.

In Duet Night Abyss, the main character (known as the Phoxhunter) is called Vita, and in DNA (the Boy/Girl in the Dream), the main character is named Mors. These are the default names chosen by the developer, so you can use them if you’re having trouble deciding what to name your characters, though you can change them when you select your preferred model.

Which Main Character Should You Choose In Duet Night Abyss?

Ultimately, the best choice depends on what you like. You can use the same AI model for both main characters if you prefer, or use different models to add some variety.

It’s unclear which character is officially the ‘main’ one, but the character you first see in your dream will be the opposite of your initial choice. For a more seamless experience, we recommend making the character from your dream your second main character – the one different from your first.

Can You Change The Main Character In DNA?

Currently, in Duet Night Abyss version 1.0, you’re unable to change the protagonist. Based on how similar games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail work, this limitation will probably remain, so choose your main character carefully. However, if the developers follow the example of Wuthering Waves, it’s possible they might add a character-switching feature later on.
