What To Do With The Drum in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

As a seasoned Modern Warfare 3 Zombies enthusiast with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the journey to acquire the elusive Drum is one for the books! The thrill of completing the Act 4 Story Mission: Countermeasures, battling formidable enemies, and ultimately obtaining this enigmatic relic never fails to excite me.

As a gamer, I’m diving headfirst into the expansive sandbox of Modern Warfare 3: Zombies, set in the heart of Urzikstan. Here, I can choose my own path and complete numerous contracts for some serious payoffs. But if I’m up for a more structured adventure, there are Story Missions to progress through, each with its unique set of rewards, some of which are downright mysterious relics.

Nestled within a series of artifacts lies an unconventional piece known as the “Drum,” a collectible in the game. Although not directly connected to a specific story mission in Modern Warfare Zombies, it can initially be obtained by completing one such mission, along with various other relics that must be utilized together with it.

How To Get The Drum

In simpler terms, you get the Drum artifact by finishing the mission called “Countermeasures,” which is part of Act 4’s story. To start this mission, head to the Anomaly on Old Town’s northern side (marked F4 on your tactical map). The mission location becomes visible once you have the Countermeasures mission active.

Before venturing into the Countermeasures Rift, players should make sure their weapons have been Pack-A-Punched to at least level 2 or higher and enhanced with a top-tier Aether Tool (Rare or superior), as the foes inside this rift are as powerful as those found in the Tier 2 Zone.

Once players embark on their mission, they’ll advance sequentially through its linear goals. These objectives involve safeguarding an Armored Combat Vehicle (ACV) as it traverses the restricted zone, while also navigating several obstacles en route. Here’s a comprehensive rundown of all the hurdles players will encounter during the ACV escort, along with strategies for overcoming them:

Investigate/Eliminate The Source Of The Signal Disruption

To achieve this goal, gamers should make their way towards the UAV tower situated slightly to the right of the ACV. Interacting with this tower will summon an electrified Mimic which must be destroyed to activate the ACV. Just like other Mimics, shooting at its glowing mouth offers continuous critical hits, enabling players to defeat it swiftly. After the Mimic is vanquished, players can then retrace their steps back to the ACV.

Clear The Infected Spores From The Mall

Upon being directed to Fletcher’s previous position, gamers will discover themselves in a shopping mall. Here, they must eliminate 15 spores. The Death Sense Ability will prove essential for identifying each spore, and players should gather the available Gas Masks to prevent health and armor plate loss. Once all spores have been eradicated, players can return to the ACV.

Outlast

The following task mirrors the Outlast Contracts scattered across Urzikstan. Once you’ve driven the ACV to its destination, your job is to trigger a PND device nearby and maintain your position, fending off zombies as they approach, until the device has been completely charged.

Defeat Krawvlr

After finishing the Outlast mission, players will have to vanquish Krawvlr – a powerful, electrically charged Mangler with a special area-of-effect attack. To defeat this foe swiftly, target the boss’s right arm when it charges up for dealing substantial critical damage, and also interrupt its ranged attack.

When you successfully conquer Krawvlr, a “Rewarding Fissure” will materialize close to a Portal Rift, housing the Drum and other valuable prizes. Once you’ve gathered this essential loot, players can venture through the Rift Portal to evacuate from the restricted area.

In simpler terms, the Drum works similarly to an Acquisition item, allowing players to keep it in their Storage (or Inventory) and use it during a new game session (or deployment).

What To Do With The Drum

Similar to numerous artifacts preceding it, the Drum serves as one essential piece among four required items to unlock a Dark Aether Fissure situated on the northeastern edge of Old Town within Tier 3 Zone (marked as G4 on your tactical map). To activate the Drum, players should position it on the fitting Rift Stand located in the area. In order to fully open the Fissure Portal, players must also gather the Tattered MMA Gloves, a Perforated Target, and a Pristine Mirror, enhance each of these items to their golden tier, and place them on their designated Rift Stands together with the Drum.
