Battlefield 6 has added a new game mode called Casual Breakthrough, and it’s available to play immediately from the main menu. This mode is a great option for players looking to quickly earn experience and progress their battle pass, weapons, and player profile.
Recently, a big point of contention for Battlefield 6 players has been a change to how experience points (XP) are earned in the Portal mode. Initially, the developers promised full XP for player-created experiences, but they reduced it after players discovered ways to quickly earn XP by battling bots. This change has frustrated many fans, as bot lobbies offered a more relaxed way to play and still earn progress, especially since some players find the regular multiplayer matches in Battlefield 6 to be too stressful due to the tight map designs.
As a long-time Battlefield fan, I’m really excited about this! For a while now, people have been finding ways around the super competitive matches – like turning off crossplay just to get into games with bots so they can actually enjoy the experience and still make progress. It’s clear the developers at Battlefield Studios have been listening, because they just announced a new game mode called Casual Breakthrough. From what they shared on X (formerly Twitter), it’s designed to be a much more relaxed way to play, letting you earn progress and complete challenges without the constant pressure. Here’s what it offers:
- Smaller player teams of 8 real players on each side.
- Teams filled primarily with bots, with 16 bots on each side.
- Full progression, with players able to grind out difficult Battlefield 6 class challenges while also earning weapon, profile, and battle pass XP.
- “Balanced XP,” which provides full XP for killing one of the 8 real players and reduced XP for killing one of the 16 bots.
- Two maps, those being Siege of Cairo and Empire State.
Will Battlefield 6’s Casual Breakthrough Mode Be Enough?
The new relaxed mode is a welcome addition and offers a good option for players who want a less intense experience. However, it probably won’t appease those upset about the changes to Portal. Currently, the mode only includes two of the game’s ten maps, which could make it repetitive quickly, though the developers hint at more maps coming to the Casual Breakthrough playlist. Also, players who enjoy other modes like Escalation and Conquest are also hoping for a similar, more laid-back option. Many have suggested a feature similar to Battlefield 2042, where you can play cooperatively with friends against AI-controlled bots, as a perfect solution.
Whether or not the new game mode will be popular largely depends on how much experience points players lose when they destroy bots. Some players have also expressed frustration with the idea of bots being in Battlefield 6 altogether, and many are still requesting more playlists with limited weapon options. However, if you’re looking for a Battlefield experience similar to Titanfall, you should definitely check out the Casual Breakthrough mode.
