In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, there’s a limit to how many Mega Shards players can collect, and dedicated players are quickly finding they can reach that limit of 999. One player recently brought up this cap on social media, leading to a discussion where others shared advice on how to best use their Mega Shards.
As you explore Lumiose City in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you’ll find clusters of pink and purple Mega Crystals growing on the ground and buildings. You can break these crystals by having your Pokemon attack them, collecting valuable Mega Shards. Using attacks that hit multiple targets, like Flamethrower or Thunderbolt, is effective against groups of crystals. Plus, Flying-type Pokemon can reach crystals in hard-to-reach locations.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Shard Cap Is Easy To Hit
Many players of Pokemon Legends: Z-A have discovered they can quickly gather 999 Mega Shards while exploring Lumiose City, but then realize they’ve been wasting time collecting more than needed. One Reddit user, GimlySonOfGloin, shared that they spent several hours collecting these shards without remembering the 999 limit. They suggest that players either use their Mega Shards to buy items like Mega Stones or simply stop collecting them once they reach the cap if they don’t need anything.
In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you can get some Mega Stones by defeating powerful, Mega-Evolved Pokemon during the game. For instance, beating a Rogue Mega Absol will reward you with the Absolite. Other Mega Stones are available for purchase at Quasartico Inc. using Mega Shards, and the price varies – the Salamencite costs 360 Mega Shards, while the Lucarionite is 240 Mega Shards.
Players of Pokemon Legends: Z-A have discovered that after collecting all the Mega Stones, leftover Mega Shards can be used to buy EXP Candy – small, medium, or large – after the main game is finished. Because each size of EXP Candy provides a set amount of experience, the cost in Mega Shards for each type of candy is similar when considering the experience gained per Shard.
Trainers can also reset their Pokémon’s effort values (EVs) at the Rust Syndicate for five Mega Shards, then re-invest them using items like Iron or Calcium. With changes coming to ranked battles in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, it’s unclear if the number of Mega Shards available will be adjusted as well.
