The upcoming launch of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” is eagerly awaited by fans, and its zombie mode is receiving a lot of buzz. One of the new features in this mode particularly caught my attention as it holds immense promise for “Black Ops 6” and future games alike.

As a diehard fan, I can’t contain my excitement as the long-awaited development cycle of Black Ops 6 nears its end. After a four-year baking process, this highly anticipated seventh installment in the Black Ops series is set to release on October 25, 2024. The return of the iconic zombies mode is just the cherry on top, as the game also promises a fresh spy-thriller campaign and an overhauled multiplayer experience with omnidirectional movement that gives players unparalleled freedom to dash, dive, and explore like never before. I can hardly wait!

Black Ops 6’s Mangler Transformation Could Be Taken Further

Besides the fresh trailer of the zombie mode in Black Ops 6, a comprehensive analysis of its gameplay has been published recently. The trailer provided more insight into the game’s storyline and mechanics, focusing on the new Terminus map, as well as introducing a new support item. Viewers got a glimpse of the intense, gory transformation into a mangler – which the blog post describes as a consequence of using a Mutant Injection. The mangler is a heavy-duty zombie character wearing advanced armor, initially introduced in Black Ops 3 in 2015. This new power-up for transformation seems exciting and would be a valuable addition to maps like Liberty Falls and any other future maps.

How The Mangler Transformation Works

In Black Ops 6, you can activate the Mangler transformation by using a freshly introduced support item called Mutant Injection. To craft this item, you’ll require some Salvage, which is one of two currencies utilized in the Zombies mode of Black Ops 6 (the other being Essence). Unlike in Black Ops Cold War where Salvage was divided into tiers, it now functions as a single currency. You can obtain Salvage by scavenging it from defeated zombie corpses.

After adopting the mangler form, the player effortlessly clears out swarms of enemies, though this prowess is temporary. This transformation serves as another melee enhancement in Black Ops 6, as its swipe and rapid sprint can quickly reduce enemies to piles of bones and gore, and it boasts a substantial health reserve to support this aggressive gameplay. The ranged cannon attack also packs a punch, capable of repelling waves of the undead. Given the destructive nature of this power, it’s no surprise that using it incurs a high Salvage fee, so players might want to reserve the ability for critical situations.

The Mangler Transformation Should Be A Feature Of Future Maps

As a longtime fan of the Call of Duty series, I’ve seen the zombies mode evolve over the years. From playing as survivors to becoming a mangler in Black Ops 2’s Turned mode, each iteration brings something new and exciting to the table. However, I believe that limiting this transformation ability to the Terminus map in Black Ops 6 would be a missed opportunity.

It’s conceivable that the unique zombies introduced in Modern Warfare 3, such as the disciple and mimic, would be suitable choices for transformations in Black Ops 6. The mimic, with its ability to disguise itself among enemies, could create exciting stealth moments, while the disciple, capable of granting powerful boosts to teammates, could add a strategic layer to gameplay. However, as we learn more about Liberty Falls and its distinct roster of creatures, there may be other compelling options for transformation.
