As a lifelong fan of all things Evil Dead, I can hardly contain my excitement for this upcoming platformer, Retro Realms: Ash vs the Evil Dead! Ever since I first watched Bruce Campbell’s iconic performance as Ash Williams back in the ’80s, I’ve been hooked on the series. The idea of stepping into Ash’s boots once more and battling those pesky Deadites again is an offer I can’t refuse.
The classic character Ash from the “Evil Dead” series is set to return in a fresh 16-bit platformer game titled within the franchise. Throughout the years, we’ve seen numerous entertaining adaptations of “Evil Dead”, and this latest installment is due out around Halloween.
Ever since its debut in 1981, the horror genre has embraced “Evil Dead” as a monumental cult classic. Over the years, Sam Raimi’s franchise has spawned numerous sequels, spin-offs, and reboots. Saber Interactive’s asymmetrical horror game, “Evil Dead: The Game”, was an attempt to capitalize on the series but ultimately failed to sustain interest. Yet, this upcoming retro remake of “Evil Dead” offers a fresh twist in the saga.
WayForward Technologies, in collaboration with Boss Team Games, have unveiled the 16-bit platformer titled “Retro Realms: Ash vs the Evil Dead“. This new game is inspired by the Starz TV series “Ash vs the Evil Dead“, featuring the main character Ash Williams battling swarms of Deadites. A sneak peek trailer released by IGN offers a glimpse into thrilling platform gameplay, highlighting Ash’s combat skills with his Boomstick and chainsaw-hand.
New Evil Dead Gamers Offers a Retro Throwback
The classic-style platformer serves as a delightful throwback to the terror-fueled era that shaped the 80s. What makes it even more enticing is that those who pre-order Retro Realms: Ash vs. the Evil Dead will receive an additional playable character. This bonus character, Kelly Maxwell, was a trusted ally of Ash’s in the TV series Ash vs. the Evil Dead. Some of the most terrifying creatures from the Evil Dead universe are expected to appear, promising a lot of gory gameplay ahead. The trailer indicates that the combat will be fast-paced and fluid, with Ash battling through numerous bloody skirmishes.
