Nintendo Switch 2 Won’t Launch This Fiscal Year, It’s Claimed

As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless sleepless nights spent conquering virtual worlds and outsmarting digital adversaries, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon hearing the latest rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2. If you’ve ever stood in line for midnight launches or camped out for limited edition consoles, then you know the anticipation that builds when a new console generation is on the horizon.

As a die-hard Nintendo fan eagerly waiting for the next big thing, I’ve been hoping the Nintendo Switch 2 would drop in early 2025. However, recent whispers suggest that we might need to hold onto our excitement a bit longer, as it seems like the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be gracing us with its presence during fiscal year 2025.

In the recent installment of the GI Microcast, Christopher Dring, who heads GameIndustry.biz’s games section, shared some insights he received regarding the upcoming Nintendo gaming console.

According to Dring, none of the developers he spoke with anticipate its launch within this current fiscal year. In fact, they’ve been explicitly informed not to expect it during this period. However, many of them are still hopeful that it might be released around April or May next year, rather than later.

Although there won’t be a launch in the fiscal year, it’s still anticipated that the console will officially debut within that period.

To provide some clarity, Nintendo’s financial calendar stretches from April 1st to March 31st. As of now, we are in the second quarter (Q2) of the fiscal year 2025, following the announcement of their first-quarter (Q1) earnings for this year earlier this month.

Nintendo has declined to comment on the latest rumors.
