As a dedicated World of Warcraft player with over a decade of experience under my belt, this recent sneak peek of the Dracthyr Warrior has me positively giddy! The teaser hinting at new class options post The War Within release is like a sweet nectar to my weary adventurer’s soul.

In a recent episode of WoWCast titled “The War Within“, the universe of World of Warcraft subtly introduced the Dracthyr Warrior. Although it has been confirmed that Dracthyr can choose other classes following “The War Within“, this latest teaser hints that World of Warcraft might soon offer these options, implying a potential imminent update.

In the game “World of Warcraft,” a new race called the Dracthyr were introduced in Dragonflight. These draconic combatants were initially limited to the Evoker class, using their abilities to summon the power of five different types of dragons during battle. After much anticipation, it has been confirmed by WoW that additional classes for the Dracthyr will become available some time after “The War Within” is launched.

Currently, Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled its initial sneak peek for the new Dracthyr class options in World of Warcraft. A fresh installment of WoWCast was recently aired, primarily discussing dungeons, excavations, PvP, and raids within World of Warcraft: The War Within. Attentive gamers spotted that one of the Dracthyr characters on display during the video was wielding two-handed axes in both hands – a maneuver typically associated with Fury Warriors – thereby marking the first official appearance of a non-Evoker Dracthyr. This unique character can be found near the campfire at approximately 1 minute and 38 seconds into the WoWCast episode.

Dracthyr Warrior Sighting in The War Within WoWCast

As a dedicated fan, I must say it’s not the first time I’ve seen a Dracthyr character sporting equipment that doesn’t typically suit their class on the Warbands selection screen in World of Warcraft. During BlizzCon 2023, when the new feature was unveiled, one of the four characters in the Warbands mockup image was wearing leather armor – a piece usually reserved for mail classes like Evokers. Initially, this was thought to be an oversight. However, Blizzard later expanded the Dracthyr’s class options, making me wonder if the teaser during the WoWCast episode could have been a clever wink to the previous occurrence.

Currently, players are unsure about the specific release date for the Dracthyr class expansion. Nevertheless, the appearance of the Dracthyr Warrior in this video hints that it might be closer to completion than initially anticipated. Fingers crossed, these features could potentially be introduced in the World of Warcraft update known as The War Within, tentatively scheduled for Patch 11.0.5, which is projected to roll out in October or November. However, there’s also a chance it might arrive as early as next year’s 11.1 patch or later.

Regardless of the specifics, enthusiasts can look forward to Dracthyr becoming playable across a wide range of game classes soon. For now, it’s uncertain whether Death Knight, Druid, Paladin, Shaman, or even Demon Hunter will be available, but with Dragonflight, these and other classes have become accessible for all. Fingers crossed, we’ll get an official announcement detailing which classes Dracthyr can select in the near future.
