As a seasoned Pokémon fan with a lifetime of collecting and playing the TCG, I can confidently say that the upcoming Porygon playmat for Pokémon Day 2025 is an exciting addition to my collection! The green background and computer chip design are a perfect nod to these virtual creatures, and having it double as a large mousepad just adds to its practicality.

As a dedicated Pokémon fan, I’m thrilled to share that we’re getting our hands on the first merchandise to mark the franchise’s 29th anniversary! It appears an exclusive Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) playmat featuring Porygon and its evolutions, Porygon 2 and Porygon-Z, is set for release on February 27, 2025 – coinciding perfectly with the next Pokémon Day celebration!

Initially introduced as the “Virtual Pokemon” in both Pokemon Red and Blue, Porygon made its debut at Celadon City Game Corner for a hefty sum of 9,999 Coins. In subsequent games like Gold and Silver, Porygon evolved into Porygon2 through an upgrade process involving the Upgrade item and trading. This evolution method was revisited in Diamond and Pearl when Porygon-Z was introduced. By trading a Porygon2 with a Dubious Disc in its possession, it transformed into the glitchy Pokemon. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Porygon line can be found within the Terarium’s Polar Biome and Tera Raid Dens, following the unlocking of the Indigo Disk DLC.

In anticipation of the upcoming Stellar Crown expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (PTCG), The Pokémon Company has started planning for the franchise’s future anniversary event in 2025. As reported by PokeGuardian, one of the merchandise items planned for Pokémon Day 2025 is a special PTCG playmat showcasing Porygon, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z. This playmat will boast a green background adorned with computer chip art, measuring about 24 x 13.5 inches when unfolded. Moreover, the Porygon playmat will be made of soft fabric on top and non-slip rubber on the bottom, making it versatile as both a gaming accessory and a large mousepad.

  • Made by Ultra Pro as officially licensed Pokemon TCG merchandise.
  • The approximate playmat dimensions are 24 in x 13.5 in.
  • The materials include a soft fabric top and a non-slip rubber underside.
  • The Porygon playmat will launch on the next Pokemon Day, on February 27, 2025.

Ultra Pro, a key manufacturing and sales partner for The Pokemon Company’s official Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) merchandise like high-end playmats featuring Abra and its evolutionary line, is set to produce the new stitched playmat. As previous Ultra Pro TCG playmats have ranged from $20.99 to $22.99, it’s likely that the forthcoming Porygon mat will be priced in a similar range.

Despite the fact that Pokemon Day 2024 was mainly ruled by Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the comeback of Mega Evolution, The Pokemon Company continues to plan numerous merchandise releases. We’re eagerly waiting to see what other surprises Pokemon has in store for its 29th anniversary.
