As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of shooters. From the early days of Doom and Quake to the modern-day battle royales, I’ve played them all. So when I hopped into the Alpha for Delta Force: Hawk Ops, I was expecting something fresh and exciting.
Don’t worry, that’s not a typo.
Lately, I’ve dived into the alpha version of Delta Force: Hawk Ops, and I must say, it’s been a lot of fun. Considering it’s an alpha, it’s remarkably well-constructed. The team at TiMi Studio has even included some live service aspects during this testing phase, which is quite impressive.
It’s hard to ignore the familiarity I’m feeling as I dive into this new gaming world; it seems I’ve been transported back to Battlefield 2042. From the layout of the maps and game modes, to the user interface and those distinctive ‘specialist’ characters, everything feels strikingly similar. The way land, sea, and air battles unfold, along with the core mechanics, all hark back to my time on Battlefield’s battlefields.
Not Unique Enough
To put it straight, Delta Force: Hawk Ops holds considerable promise. I’ve found myself enjoying this game more than many shooters released in recent years. It boasts impressive visuals, smooth performance, and an overall sense of quality, from the weapons to the characters. It’s just a pity that it appears to be a reskin of Battlefield 2042.
People who are acquainted with the latest Battlefield game by EA might find some of these images reminiscent of the menu for Battlefield 2042.
It starts to feel quite unusual – even the font style, color scheme, and symbolism seem reminiscent of Battlefield 2042’s design. One primary gameplay mode involves attacking teams trying to seize objectives while defending teams aim to keep them, which is essentially a mirror image of Battlefield’s popular ‘Breakthrough’ mode.
As a gamer, I’ve been thrilled by TiMi Studio’s creative endeavor in Delta Force: Hawk Ops. They’ve added some fresh and exclusive features that make the game stand out. What’s particularly exciting is the upcoming campaign mode, which takes us on a journey through the gripping narrative of ‘Black Hawk Down’. It’s not an exact replica, but it’s so immersive, it feels almost indistinguishable from the real event.
Is Delta Force Worth Playing?
As I mentioned earlier, I’m really enjoying my playtime with Delta Force: Hawk Ops, especially the Extraction Shooter mode which reminds me of DMZ from Call of Duty, their unsuccessful attempt at an extraction shooter. Essentially, it’s similar but offers a more casual, ‘arcade’ style experience that I think many gamers will appreciate.
In Delta Force, the shooting feels gratifying, the weapon customization offers a smooth experience, and the roster of specialists is varied enough that each one has their unique identity. I’m especially fond of Luna, a nimble character who carries a bow that can fire ‘surveillance arrows’ or electric bolts.
As a hardcore gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the gaming world has been yearning for a fresh, exciting multiplayer shooter to sink our teeth into, and Delta Force: Hawk Ops might just be the answer we’ve all been waiting for. With the recent lull in new Battlefield games and Call of Duty’s DMZ mode taking a backseat, it seems like Delta Force could step up to fill that void. Despite its apparent similarities to these well-known franchises, I believe it has the potential to carve out its own niche and become a go-to choice for gamers seeking intense, action-packed multiplayer combat. The fact that it’s free to play is just the icing on the cake, making it an even more enticing proposition. That being said, I have no illusions about the inevitable presence of microtransactions, season passes, and cosmetics bundles. It’s just the reality of the industry nowadays, but if Delta Force can find the right balance between monetization and gameplay, it could very well become a staple in the gaming world for years to come.
