In the thrilling adventure of “The First Descendant“, mastering Void Intercept Battles is crucial for your journey. To advance towards the climax or unveil the next territory, you must conquer towering monsters in these battles. The game offers more than eight distinct Void Intercept Battles, each presenting a unique challenge that you need to surmount.

In the game The First Descendant, one particularly challenging boss to conquer is named the Swamp Walker. This level 82 colossus resembles the Devourer in its arsenal of Toxin-centric attacks. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to overcome the Swamp Walker.

In the game “The First Descendant,” you’ll encounter the Swamp Walker as the seventh boss in the series known as the Void Intercept. Despite moving slowly, this boss is particularly challenging due to its large health reserve.

Swamp Walker Resistances

The Swamp Walker has multiple Toxin attacks in his arsenal which not only deal a lot of damage but also leave a Toxin puddle that inflicts poison debuff if you step on it. Having a minimum of 2,600 Toxin Resistance is essential for surviving the onslaughts of these poisonous attacks. Like every Toxin monster in The First Descendant, the Swamp Walker is also weak to Electric-type damage, thus having Electric ATK modifiers, and Descendants is an absolute must.

Swamp Walker Weak Points

In addition to understanding which attacks inflict greater damage, it’s crucial to identify the vulnerable spots on a Swamp Walker Colossus. Therefore, here are the weak points of the Swamp Walker that will help you chip away at its substantial health:

  • Helmet (Destructible) – Located on its Head
  • Sensor (Destructible) – Located on its Shoulders
  • Core Cover (Destructible) – Located on its Chest
  • Brain (Removable) – Located on its Head
  • Shell (Removable) – Located on its Shoulders
  • Core (Removable) – Located on its Chest

It’s advisable to prioritize attacking the Core first, then the Sensors, as they are the most vulnerable areas. The Helmet, being the smallest target, is usually hard to hit accurately.

Swamp Walker Attacks, Explained

Swamp Walker’s assaults are generally manageable, often evadable with the right moment and spatial awareness. To avoid getting knocked off-balance, follow this guide to anticipate and dodge each attack effectively:

  1. Machine Guns: This is the most common attack you’ll encounter when up against the Swamp Walker. During this, both the Machine Guns on the Swamp Walker’s hand will start shooting a stream of bullets towards your location. You can momentarily save yourself by hiding behind structures, but they will break after a few shots from this attack. Regardless, you can dodge this quite easily by rolling.
  2. Regular Missiles: The Swamp Walker has two missile attacks in its arsenal, and you’ll face the regular ones more often. These missiles are shot towards you and can break through structures. If you’re well-geared, you can tank a few shots from this attack. But, in most cases, you should dodge them by double jumping or rolling.
  3. Toxin Missiles: Unlike the previous attack, these green missiles are much more tricky to deal with. Not only does this deal more damage than its regular counterpart, but it also leaves toxin puddles which can deal a lot of damage if not dodged. If you’re knocked down by this attack, your squad members can’t revive you as long as you’re in the toxin puddle. So, start rolling whenever you’re targeted by this attack.
  4. Toxin Blasts: Apart from the machine guns, there’s another attack from the Swamp Walker’s guns, which are two consecutive blasts. These relatively slow-moving green bombs follow you to your location and deal explosive damage, while also leaving toxin puddles. However, you can hide behind structures to protect yourself from this attack.

While it might appear that avoiding the attacks is straightforward, remember to keep an eye on the battle clock. Spending time on dodging attacks, toxin puddles, and red lava can quickly deplete your time, leaving you with insufficient time to lower the boss’s health points to zero.

Swamp Walker Rage Mode

Compared to other Void Intercept Bosses, the Swamp Walker’s Rage mode is relatively manageable if you can react swiftly. When its rage meter is fully charged, this boss becomes aggressive and invulnerable to any type of attack.

In this stage, feel free to target the green containers that appear on its limbs. Destroying them will terminate the Rage Mode, making it more advantageous if done quickly.

At the onset of the fight, feel free to activate your Ecive Scanner to gain insights about the boss’s anger level and vulnerable spots. This information will aid you in readying yourself for the Rage Mode. It’s crucial to move nearer because the frenzy starts once the rage mode begins.
