As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt and a soft spot for canine companions, I must say that Barkour has piqued my interest significantly. The idea of controlling a sneaky, tech-savvy dog on a high-stakes mission is nothing short of intriguing. It’s about time we saw more representation for our four-legged friends in the gaming world, especially considering the recent cat-centric titles that have dominated the scene.
In a forthcoming stealth game named Barkour, players will assume the role of an unconventional special agent – a cunning, tech-savvy canine. Dogs have long been trusted sidekicks in various video games, often serving as allies rather than foes to be vanquished. From the loyal dog companion Dogmeat in Fallout, to the revered wolf deity Amaterasu of Okami fame, dogs have won over countless gamers and consistently prove to be “man’s best friend” not only in reality but also within the digital world.
Over the last few years, it appears that cats have been receiving increased love from video game creators compared to their longtime foe, the dog. For instance, the furry escapade title Stray has become a massive success on PlayStation platforms and is now available on Xbox consoles, with a Nintendo Switch version set for release soon. Similarly, this year saw the launch of Little Kitty, Big City by indie developer Double Dagger Studio, where a cat hero finds itself in a vibrant city setting. Given all these feline-focused games over the past years, gamers are eagerly awaiting new games that star our canine friends.
The following year will bring the arrival of a novel action/stealth game called Barkour. In this title, players assume the role of a secret agent canine, working for an animal-led spy agency, tasked with saving the world. As demonstrated in the latest Barkour trailer, this agile undercover operative moves through environments by utilizing parkour abilities and advanced technology, evading armed mercenaries with stealth and humorously incapacitating them before darting to the next objective.

The game is being developed by VARSAV Game Studios, the same team behind the unusual title “Bee Simulator,” which was released in 2019.
Similar to Stray and Little Kitty, Big City before it, Barkour appears set to offer players a unique viewpoint by placing a typical household pet in action-packed and stealth-focused roles usually reserved for human characters – specifically, as a canine secret agent tasked with saving the world from evil forces.
