As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming Splitgate 2 Closed Alpha. Having been hooked on the original back in 2019 when it first launched in early access, the prospect of jumping back into this Halo-Portal mashup is too enticing to resist.

As a devoted fan, I’ve always been captivated by Splitgate since it first emerged in early access back in 2019. It masterfully blended the thrilling gameplay mechanics of Halo and Portal into an incredibly engaging shooter experience. However, as its initial excitement seemed to wane, the developers made a brilliant decision to expand on this concept by introducing factions, unique abilities, and more, keeping the game fresh and exciting for players like myself.
To catch a glimpse of the sequel before others, follow these steps to participate in the Splitgate 2 preliminary phase.
How to access Splitgate 2 Closed Alpha
You’re welcome to ask for early access to try out the Splitgate 2 alpha on Steam. Just visit their website, log in if you haven’t already, and click the ‘Request Access’ button found beneath the Testing area to express your desire.
As a gamer, I’m aware that joining the alpha test doesn’t automatically grant me access. The developers are limiting the number of participants initially, so they might not let me in right away. If I get chosen, I’ll receive a heads-up through a notification informing me that the Closed Alpha is available for download.
The exact number of participants or the sequence of player access phases hasn’t been specified yet, but it appears that access might be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. So, make sure you visit Steam and sign up promptly.

Splitgate 2 alpha dates
The initial Closed Alpha starts on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 12 PM Pacific Time (PT), 9 AM Eastern Time (ET), or 8 PM British Summer Time (BST). It will last for a brief span of four days before wrapping up on Sunday, August 25.
In other words, you’ve got about six days to explore the new maps, factions, and gameplay modifications before they might be subjected to further testing by the developers. Keep in mind that if you don’t take advantage of this opportunity, there may be additional tests conducted prior to the final release.
Splitgate 2 alpha platforms – Is it on console?
You can only access the Splitgate 2 alpha version through Steam on a PC. Even though the finished game will also release on PlayStation and Xbox, it’s unfortunate that console users cannot experience early playtime at this stage.
If you’re eagerly waiting for Splitgate 2 in 2025 and seeking a FPS game to play in the meantime, the Open Beta for Black Ops 6 will commence on August 30.
