Xbox Game Pass Losing 4 Games Today

Xbox Game Pass Losing 4 Games Today

Highlights

  • Xbox Game Pass is losing Shadow Warrior 3, Airborne Kingdom, Offworld Trading Company, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre later today.
  • All four are expected to leave the service around the end of the day, local time.
  • These departures offset all of the new Xbox Game Pass additions from the first half of August 2024.

As a dedicated Xbox Game Pass subscriber with years of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as I bid farewell to some old friends – Shadow Warrior 3, Airborne Kingdom, Offworld Trading Company, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. These games have been a staple in my virtual adventures, and their departure from the Xbox Game Pass library feels like losing touch with dear companions.

It’s announced that Shadow Warrior 3 and three other games will leave the Xbox Game Pass library today, marking the initial removals from the collection in August 2024.

Microsoft’s subscription game service usually replenishes its offerings twice a month. However, last month deviated from the norm as it experienced three separate reductions in the Xbox Game Pass library. This was in addition to the standard mid-month and end-of-month departures of games. Moreover, the service also bid farewell to the game Cricket 22 on July 5.

It seems Microsoft is planning to take down a few games from its regular rotation schedule today. The affected titles include “Airborne Kingdom”, “Offworld Trading Company”, “Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition”, and “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre”. These games will no longer be available on Xbox Game Pass later in the day, though Microsoft doesn’t specify exact removal times. Typically, these games are taken down towards the end of the day, local time.

Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving August 15

Game Platform(s) Added How Long To Beat
Airborne Kingdom Cloud, Console, PC August 2023 7–13 hours
Offworld Trading Company PC August 2022 9–119 hours
Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition Cloud, Console, PC February 2023 5–9 hours
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre August 2023 ~52 hours

It will require more than just an afternoon to comfortably finish any of the games about to leave our collection. However, if you have a full afternoon available, you might be able to complete one game such as Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition, which typically takes around 5.5 hours to beat. But if you aim to unlock all 38 achievements and earn 1,000 Gamerscore points, that will take significantly longer, approximately double the time. On the other hand, a single campaign in Airborne Kingdom, released in 2022 by The Wandering Band, is estimated to be finishable within half a day based on HowLongToBeat data.

Due to Xbox Game Pass adding only four games in the first half of August 2024, the games leaving today will cancel out those additions, resulting in no new content added over the past fortnight. Microsoft has not yet disclosed the second phase of its August 2024 Xbox Game Pass schedule, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens by the end of the month. The upcoming departures, anticipated on August 31, are likely to be announced together with the new games scheduled for the second half of the month.

According to earlier announcements by third-party publishers, the second wave of games joining XGP in August 2024 will feature “Core Keeper” and “SOPA: Tale of the Stolen Potato”. These titles have already been confirmed as day-one releases on Microsoft’s service. Notably, “Core Keeper” is set to debut on August 27, while “SOPA” is yet to receive a release date.
