Team Heretics and G2 Eliminated By Challengers Teams at Esports World Cup

As a seasoned gamer with years of Call of Duty under my belt, I must admit that the Modern Warfare 3 segment of the Esports World Cup has been a rollercoaster ride! The underdog teams like Gentle Mates and Stallions have truly shown their mettle by giving some CDL competitors a run for their money.

The heated competition for the Modern Warfare 3 segment of the Esports World Cup is intensifying, and earlier today, some underdog Challenger teams demonstrated they can outperform certain CDL (Call of Duty League) competitors. First off was Gentle Mates, who successfully ousted G2 Esports (Minnesota Rokkr) from the tournament with a close 3-2 victory in the elimination round.

Eventually, FC Black eliminated Team Heretics from the tournament by dealing them a heavy defeat. In this matchup, each map was incredibly tight, and the initial Hardpoint was nearly impossible to decide with a score of 250 to 248.

Shaping Up

At the Esports World Cup, Modern Warfare 3 isn’t garnering strong performance, as some Call of Duty League enthusiasts have criticized it as a ‘staged event’. For instance, the viewership for the elimination game between Team Falcons and Lore Gaming peaked around 4,500 viewers on average.

Many argue that it’s primarily about gaining wealth, and to some extent, they are correct. After all, there are significant amounts of money at stake.

Even teams leaving the tournament without a single win go away with $20,000 in their pockets.

After the initial elimination rounds, the first four teams that were knocked out of the competition have withdrawn.
