As an avid Overwatch 2 enthusiast who’s been following the game since its inception, I must admit that I share the disappointment of many fans regarding the Egyptian-themed Season 12 battle pass. It seems like a missed opportunity to not include skins for some of the game’s Egyptian heroes, such as Ramattra and Ana, who have strong connections to Egyptian mythology.
It appears that some Overwatch 2 fans are expressing disappointment because the new Season 12 battle pass doesn’t feature any skins for heroes with Egyptian ties. This isn’t an unusual reaction, as players have previously criticized Overwatch 2 for not including appropriate skins in its battle passes or shop, such as a skin for Echo during the Porsche collaboration, or a Reinhardt skin for Season 8’s Call of the Hunt theme.
Season 12, scheduled to launch on August 20, promises a grand entrance. The recently tested hero, Juno, has already garnered enthusiasm from fans during her trial period last month. In anticipation, Overwatch 2 is gearing up to unveil a brand-new game mode called Clash. This innovative mode will be introduced with two maps: Hanaoka and the Egyptian-themed Throne of Anubis. To complement this theme, Season 12’s battle pass offers heroes such as Illari and Doomfist skins inspired by ancient Egypt. Lastly, Reaper is set to receive his Mythic skin in this season.
In the upcoming Season 12 of Overwatch 2, there’s much excitement, but some fans are expressing disappointment because several Egyptian characters from the roster aren’t featured in the Egyptian-themed battle pass. Characters like Ramattra, designed with inspiration from Egyptian Pharaohs, are being highlighted as missed opportunities. Even more noticeable is the absence of Ana and her daughter Pharah, both of whom have Egyptian origins, from the battle pass. However, Pharah will still be getting a new Egyptian-themed skin in the shop.
Overwatch 2’s Egyptian Heroes Don’t Have Battle Pass Skins In Season 12
Fans of Overwatch 2 are puzzled about why Reaper is receiving a Mythic skin in this season instead of other characters like Pharah and Venture. Some fans felt that Pharah, with her Egypt-inspired character, would have been an ideal choice for the crown jewel of the battle pass this time around. However, Pharah had already received significant attention during the Porsche event with D.Va earlier in the year. Similarly, Venture, Overwatch 2’s latest hero, has left fans wondering why he wasn’t chosen to match the theme of this season, given his archaeologist explorer background. It seems that it may be another few seasons before we see more skins for Venture as he is still relatively new to the game.
In the upcoming Season 12, Pharah and Ana will receive new Egyptian-themed cosmetics, including a shop skin and weapon skin. However, players are hoping that future battle passes in Overwatch 2 will feature heroes who play a more significant role in the storyline of the game. It remains to be seen if Overwatch 2 will improve its battle pass hero selection in the future. Fingers crossed that the introduction of Juno, the Clash mode, and other new features will make up for this missed opportunity for Ana and Pharah fans.
