Farming weapon mods is fairly simple, but there’s a bit of nuance involved. Even the best weapons in Once Human will need an appropriate mod to go with it, but before you go out and stand fighting things, here are some things you’ll want to know about farming weapon mods.

How To Get Controllers
There are three ways to get Controllers:
- Complete Commissions
- Complete Public Crisis Events
- Purchase from Vendors
Commissions are very easy and straightforward to do. Either visit a local Commissions NPC or summon V by holding Tab and selecting the appropriate button. Speak with them to open the Commissions screen, then pick five tasks that you want to complete. Each task rewards four Controllers each, and if you finish five of them, you get an additional five Controllers.
During specific public emergencies, players can earn items known as Controllers. To locate these events, consult your game map by pressing the ‘X’ key on your keyboard. When you find an event on the map, hover over it to see if it offers any Controllers as a reward.
In summary, you can encounter both Nisa and Severin in various settlements where they sell Controllers. However, be aware that Nisa prefers Sproutlets as payment, while Severin only accepts Stellar Planula. It’s worth noting that Nisa also offers a range of high-quality weapon modifications for purchase. If you need Sproutlets, consider participating in the Cargo Scramble PvP event within the game “Once Human”.
Farming Weapon and Gear Crates
Another method for acquiring weapon modifications is by opening Weapon and Equipment Boxes. These containers sometimes yield precious mods, including golden ones, especially when discovered within higher-tier locations.
You’ll encounter Weapon and Equipment Containers scattered across various points on the map. Keep in mind their locations while playing areas like Hearst Industries in Once Human. These containers remain stationary regardless of game events, allowing you to reopen them after a gap of four real-life hours.
Instead of relying on farming bosses for weapon mods at this stage, it’s beneficial to gear up during the initial stages of the seasonal period when higher-difficulty bosses and dungeons are unavailable. However, we don’t recommend grinding these activities in Normal mode due to the minimal returns compared to the effort, particularly given how scarce Controllers can be.
