Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 112: The End of Kaiju No. 9?

Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 112: The End of Kaiju No. 9?

As a long-time fan of manga and someone who’s seen more than a few cliffhangers in my day, I must say, the latest chapter of Kaiju No. 8 has me on the edge of my seat! The battle between Kafka and Kaiju No. 9 is nothing short of epic, with both characters showcasing their strength and resilience.

This article contains spoilers from Kaiju No. 8 chapter 112.

In the latest installment of Kaiju No. 8, fans of the monster-filled universe are being left breathless. After Mina Ashiro retrieved her sniper rifle, the commanding officer of the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force’s Third Division orchestrated a counteroffensive against Kaiju No. 9. Meanwhile, Kafka Hibino continued to battle up close using his Kaiju No. 8 form. Though their foe managed to adjust to the altered pace and diverse fighting techniques, it didn’t prepare them for what was to come next. With their backs against the wall, Kafka and Mina might only have one chance left to save the planet.

The opening chapter of August’s Kaiju No. 8 comic series maintains its rapid-fire and violent sequences, as Kaiju No. 9 consistently outsmarts the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force with countermeasures for each tactic they employ. As the surviving members of this force continue to repel numerous honju and kaiju-grade threats, it seems that only Mina and Kafka have the potential to defeat Kaiju No. 8. By successfully taking down Kaiju No. 8, the plan is that other kaijus and honjus wreaking havoc in the city will stand down and retreat back to their natural habitats, thus diminishing Kaiju No. 9’s power and reducing their motivation to fight against the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force.

The Anti-Kaiju Defense Force Turn The Tables On Kaiju No. 9

Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 112: The End of Kaiju No. 9?

Resuming our story in Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 111, Mina now wields her Anti-Giant-Class Kaiju Rail Gun and stands poised for attack. As the Captain of the Third Division of the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force, Mina’s combat abilities at 98% and expertise with long-range weaponry make her an ideal choice for defeating colossal kaiju. Although she may not match Soshiro Hoshina’s prowess against medium-sized kaiju, Mina shines in obliterating the most enormous and terrifying city invaders. Her sniper rifles can be fired from great distances with pinpoint accuracy, striking their cores and causing destruction.

Mina tirelessly fought Kaiju No. 9, transforming into Kaiju No. 8 to balance the fight, but she was dangerously close to dying before Kafka arrived. Once rescued by Kafka, Mina swiftly moved and prepared herself with a new weapon to aid Kafka. The two complement each other well, as Mina shines when using her immense combat power to launch potent weapons, while Kafka thrives in personal battles, relying on his robust endurance and the ability to deliver powerful blows that can decapitate kaiju bodies.

Now they’ll shatter my core with another alternative form move. Magnificent! – Kaiju No. 9

Initially, it appeared that Mina would take down Kaiju No. 9 with a single shot from her weapon, a tactic she had successfully used numerous times in the past. However, upon closer examination, Kafka and Mina realized that this approach wouldn’t work against Kaiju No. 9 due to his remarkable intelligence displayed during the fight. He can learn new fighting styles quickly and render them useless against him by adapting on the fly. Instead, the shot from Mina’s weapon consisted of a two-step plan: the initial blast was designed as a distraction, while the second part exposed his core for just long enough, allowing Kafka to capitalize on the opportunity.

The Return Of The General

General Shinomiya Makes His Presence Felt

As a devoted fan, I’ve been pondering over this strategy, and here’s my take:

The beautiful panels showcase the rebellion of Shinomiya through captivating images of Kaiju No. 9 being crushed under the weight of Shinomiya’s strength. While the portrayal was subliminal and not occurring in the physical realm, it helps paint the picture that Kaiju No. 9 cannot control Shinomiya forever. Facing this rejection, Kaiju No. 9 is also faced with a harsh realization that his regeneration is no longer functioning as it normally does, leaving his core continuously exposed. Mina’s blast was a successful first step to defeating Kaiju No. 9, but the final step falls into the hands of Kafka. With the core exposed, he’ll have one chance to destroy it and defeat Kaiju No. 9.

The reveal of Shinomiya still being present inside Kaiju No. 9 also brings up the possibility that he is still alive and can be saved after the battle. Mina herself was absorbed by Kaiju No. 9, and the audience got to see a first-hand look at what it means to be trapped inside the body of a kaiju. Mina wasn’t inside for nearly as long as Shinomiya, but the one aspect that was learned is that the stronger the willpower of the person, the more likely they are to survive the ordeal. It’s been projected many times throughout the chapters leading up to Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 112 that Shinomiya is the strongest member of the Defense Force, and he may very well still be by the end of this fight.

The Exposure Of Kaiju No. 9’s Core

The Cliffhanger Leaves Kaiju No. 9’s Defeat In Question

Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 112: The End of Kaiju No. 9?

At the heart of Kaiju No. 9 lies its vulnerable point, revealed by Shinomiya’s refusal and the gap created by Mina’s shot. Kafka holds a secret move in reserve, and with this opening now available, he decided this was the opportune moment to employ it. Pushing himself to his utmost limit, Kafka activates his Alternative Sixth Form – the Neo God of Thunder attack. This form harnesses the raw power of Kaiju No. 8, channeling it into a thunderous punch aimed directly at the core of Kaiju No. 9. The force of this strike reverberated through their surroundings, creating a shockwave and blast. It’s uncertain whether this strike was the final blow or if Kaiju No. 9 can endure such power.

Even though the outcome was uncertain, Kaiju No. 9 expressed admiration for how intense the battle had grown. He noted that the humans he was engaging with kept exceeding his expectations. Just as we’ve seen in the past, this kaiju seemed to enjoy battling an adversary as formidable as himself, despite his ambition for world domination. It seems that Kaiju No. 9 regards the members of the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force as the strongest humans alive, which could be advantageous for him if he manages to defeat them. If Kaiju No. 9 emerges victorious, it would almost certainly lead to his global conquest and establish a life ruled by kaijus.

Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 112: The End of Kaiju No. 9?

The last scene in Chapter 113 of Kaiju No. 8 leaves several mysteries unsolved: Is Kaiju No. 9 defeated or still at large? If it’s destroyed, will General Shinomiya be saved simultaneously? There’s hope that if Kaiju No. 9 is eliminated, the other kaiju and honju wreaking havoc on the city will lose their control over it and cease attacking the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force. If not, can the remaining Officers and Platoon Leaders fend them off long enough for the Captains and Vice-Captains to reinforce them? Let’s hope that Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 113 sheds some light on these questions and possibly marks the end of our biggest menace.
