HoYoverse, the company behind Genshin Impact, has given a sneak peek at their next game with a short video showing how it’s being built. This new project is described as a large, open-world online game, and it looks very different from anything HoYoverse has made before, including Genshin Impact.
As of November 2025, HoYoverse is supporting five live games: Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, Honkai Impact 3rd, Zenless Zone Zero, and Tears of Themis. The Shanghai-based company also has several new projects in development. They’ve officially announced some, like Petit Planet, which is similar to Animal Crossing. Other projects are still under wraps, but job postings suggest they’re working on an open-world MMORPG using Unreal Engine 5.

Recent job postings and a short video shared on RedNote are giving us a better look at HoYoverse’s upcoming MMO. The 19-second clip shows a fantasy environment with a mysterious stone structure and figures on horseback. While the video doesn’t reveal much gameplay, it confirms a significant change in art style. Unlike their popular game Genshin Impact, which features an anime look, this new MMO will use realistic graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5.
HoYoverse’s UE5 Game Will Have PvP
The video shared by HoYoverse on RedNote was accompanied by an image that revealed more about their new game. The image mentioned features like player-versus-player combat, boss fights, smart AI for battles in any environment, and a dynamic “Eco System,” though details on the last two are still unknown. The video’s description promises a large fantasy world filled with heroic characters, monsters, and dangerous spirits. Players will also be able to build relationships with companions. According to a translated message, the game’s story will focus on rebuilding a broken world, breaking a corrupt agreement, and challenging the power of the gods.
HoYoverse’s new game, built with Unreal Engine 5, has probably been in the works for over a year. The company began hiring specialists in UE5 back in August 2024. While these positions could have been for another project, game studios usually test new engines carefully, starting with one game before using them more widely. Regardless, this upcoming MMO is still very early in development and is likely several years away from release.

HoYoverse usually releases its games on PCs, consoles, and phones. Although their next game is being made with the powerful Unreal Engine 5, which could make a mobile version difficult, it’s still possible. Several games like Fortnite, Infinite Nikki, and Game of Thrones: Kingsroad already work on UE5 and are available on mobile, and more are being developed for both platforms.
