As a seasoned Pokemon GO player who took a five-year hiatus and recently returned to the game, I can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and excitement upon discovering that I had an Armored Mewtwo tucked away in my collection all this time! I remember the hype surrounding its release back in 2019, and I was thrilled to have captured three during the limited-time raid event.

A player who resumed playing Pokemon GO after a five-year hiatus has recently realized the worth of an unused creature in their game – Armored Mewtwo. Interestingly, this player has managed to catch three Armored Mewtwos through their account, but two friends have already claimed the spare ones.

Throughout the history of Pokémon, Mewtwo has been known as the most powerful Legendary among the original 150 creatures, consistently maintaining a strong presence. In the mobile augmented reality game, the armored version of this Legendary is highly desirable. This specific Armored Mewtwo was designed for the film “Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution,” which premiered in Japan during the summer of 2019 and reimagined the story from the 1998 movie “Pokémon: The First Movie” using computer-generated imagery (CGI). Both the movies and the initial anime episode portrayed an armored version of the genetically created creature, but the modern version has been updated with some enhancements.

During the three weeks in July 2019, Armored Mewtwo five-star raids were introduced into Pokemon GO, allowing players to engage in battles and capture their own movie version of this decked-out Pokemon if they possessed the necessary skills and luck. A Reddit user named weedle321 managed to secure three of these creatures during the initial limited-time raid event before taking a break from the game. Having just returned to Pokemon GO, the player expressed surprise at discovering the valuable Pokemon they had inadvertently kept stored away.

Pokemon Go Player Returns and Discovers Three Super-Valuable Pokemon

As a gamer, I’ve got to say, the armor on Mewtwo in the movie might be designed to curb its psychic abilities, but it doesn’t seem to affect its performance in the game one bit! The Armored Mewtwo I flaunted in the discussion thread boasts a CP of 1,821 and a three-star rating on my Pokemon GO app. Luckily, this is the Mewtwo I ended up keeping, as IVs are shuffled post-trade. That’s a relief because I don’t want to let go of such a powerful catch!

Currently, you cannot obtain an Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO directly. However, if you manage to find another player who is willing to trade their Armored Mewtwo, it is eligible for the game’s Special Trade system. This could potentially save you a significant amount of Stardust.
