Battlestate Games is planning new measures to combat cheaters in Escape from Tarkov, set to launch with the game’s 1.0 update. A company representative recently shared this information and also voiced their disappointment with how players view the developer’s anti-cheat work.
On August 4th, the popular online game Escape from Tarkov celebrated its ninth anniversary since first entering alpha testing. Throughout those nine years, the game has consistently struggled with cheaters, and the developers at Battlestate have been in a constant battle to ban them.
New Escape from Tarkov Anti-Cheat Measures Coming Soon
Okay, so as a huge Escape from Tarkov player, I’m super hyped to hear that 1.0 is finally dropping mid-November! I was reading an interview with Battlestate’s CEO, Nikita Buyanov, and he basically said they’re pulling out all the stops to deal with cheaters when the game officially launches next Saturday, November 15th. Sounds like they’ve got some new anti-cheat measures ready to go, which is awesome. Hopefully, it’ll make a big difference and clean up the game!
Escape from Tarkov Boss Finds Fans’ Opinions on Battlestate’s Anti-Cheat Measures ‘Depressing’ and ‘Upsetting’
During the same interview, Buyanov discussed cheating in Escape from Tarkov and admitted that upcoming changes likely won’t completely satisfy players. He explained this isn’t because the changes won’t help, but because they won’t eliminate cheating forever. He expressed frustration with the constant negativity, saying it feels like people assume Battlestate isn’t trying. Buyanov clarified that it’s a never-ending cycle of Battlestate developing anti-cheat measures and cheat developers finding ways around them. Even when anti-cheat systems work, they eventually get bypassed, requiring constant updates. Ultimately, Buyanov believes it’s impossible to convince everyone that Battlestate is doing its best, but he reaffirmed the studio’s ongoing commitment to fighting cheaters.
Buyanov recently reiterated his long-standing claim that Battlestate Games is constantly battling cheaters in Escape from Tarkov. Beyond simply improving cheat detection, the studio has also started encouraging players to report those they suspect of cheating.
It’s really frustrating to see the negative comments we’ve received over the years, especially the accusations that we aren’t addressing cheating. It feels like our efforts are being ignored.
Last October, Battlestate Games confirmed they’re working on a version of Escape from Tarkov for consoles. If the console version uses its own servers and doesn’t allow players to compete with those on PCs, it might be harder to cheat, at least using typical methods. However, consoles aren’t completely safe from cheating devices like the Cronus Zen, which can mimic controller inputs and offer advantages like reduced recoil and faster firing speeds that are hard for games to identify.
