As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in the gaming realm, I must admit that Overwatch 2 has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions. From the initial hype to the subsequent letdowns and then the gradual recovery, this game has kept me hooked like a trout on a fishing line.

Despite its past controversies surrounding PvE modes and questionable monetization strategies, Overwatch 2 has had a relatively successful year thus far in 2024. The game has seen several enjoyable collaborations, introduced new intriguing characters, and made a significant change by granting access to all heroes from the start for players. There are still many exciting developments on the horizon for Overwatch 2 throughout the rest of the year.

On August 27, 2024, the 12th season of “Overwatch 2” begins, known as “New Frontiers.” This upcoming season has the potential to be the most significant and impressive yet for the hero shooter, featuring an array of themed Battle Pass skins, a fresh game mode, two newly designed maps, essential balance adjustments, and, not forgetting, a new Support character.

Overwatch 2 Season 12 Begins on August 27

Juno Comes to Overwatch 2 on August 27

One thrilling novelty expected in Overwatch 2 Season 12 on August 27 is the introduction of the new Support hero, Juno. Originating from Mars, this space ranger is equipped with rocket boots that enable her to perform a double jump and horizontally glide-boost. Her homing rockets serve both as healing tools for allies and damage sources for enemies. Furthermore, Juno’s Hyper Ring boosts the movement speed of any ally who dashes through it. Similar to Ana’s sniper, Juno’s primary weapon, the Mediblaster, heals teammates while damaging enemies. When Juno uses her Ultimate, an Orbital Ray is unleashed, gradually advancing forward, healing allies within its range and increasing their damage output by 30%.

Overwatch 2 Season 12’s Battle Pass is Packed With New Skins

Just as each season prior, we’re gearing up for Overwatch 2 Season 12. This time around, the Battle Pass is loaded with engaging skins and cosmetic items.

  • Anubis Reaper (Mythic)
  • Oni Ana (Legendary)
  • Thoth Illari (Legendary)
  • Dorothy Ashe (Legendary)
  • Captain Sigma (Legendary)
  • Bast Doomfist (Legendary)

As a longtime fan of mythology and pop culture references, I must say that this season’s Battle Pass theme really piques my interest. With a focus on Egyptian mythology, it takes me back to my childhood when I used to read about the gods and legends of ancient civilizations. The skins for Illari, Doomfist, and Reaper, each referencing an Ancient Egyptian god, are particularly exciting as they bring these legendary figures to life in a way that feels fresh and innovative.

Between September 17 and October 21, if you connect your Battle.net and Xbox Game Pass accounts, you’ll get 30 Mythic Prisms and six free hero skins with no extra cost involved.

Important Competitive Updates and Hero Balances Are Coming with Overwatch Season 12

On August 27th, I’m excited to share that my favorite game, Overwatch 2, will be refreshing its Competitive ranks, meaning all players, including me, will start fresh at Bronze. This update also brings modifications to the Avoid as Teammate feature in Overwatch 2. Moreover, a series of hero balance adjustments are on the horizon for Overwatch 2. In an effort to curb high-mobility heroes, Blizzard is making health pool reductions for several Damage and Support characters. Lifeweaver, in particular, is set to receive numerous changes, such as reworks to his Petal Platform and Rejuvenating Dash.

Overwatch Season 12 Is Adding a New Game Mode and Two New Maps

Excitedly speaking as a dedicated Overwatch fan, I can’t contain my joy! Blizzard has officially announced that the thrilling Clash game mode is coming to Overwatch 2 in Season 12. In this mode, two teams of attackers will simultaneously attempt to capture and defend five control points. Two fresh maps tailored for this mode, Throne of Anubis and Hanaoka, are also set to be introduced in Season 12, bringing a refreshing twist to two beloved classic Overwatch maps.
