Bosch: Legacy Season 3 Needs To Bring Back This Key Character From The Original Series

Bosch: Legacy Season 3 Needs To Bring Back This Key Character From The Original Series

Highlights

  • Exciting news – Bosch: Legacy season 3 coming in 2025 on Freevee with returning favorites Welliver, Rogers, and Lintz.
  • Fans want Lt. Grace Billets back in season 3 – she was Bosch’s trusted ally and should play a role in expanding Bosch-verse.
  • Billets could star in her own spin-off or join Renee Ballard series – expanding the universe created by Michael Connelly.

As a dedicated fan of Bosch and the entire Connelly universe, I wholeheartedly agree that Lt Grace Billets’ absence from Bosch: Legacy has been quite conspicuous, given her significant role in the original series. Her character was not only integral to the story but also brought a unique blend of strength, compassion, and wit that made her one of my favorite characters.

Legacy” has finished filming, with lead actor Titus Welliver confirming it will air on Freevee (Prime Video’s subsidiary) in 2025. Welliver reprises his role as Harry Bosch, alongside Mimi Rogers as Honey Chandler and Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch. However, there’s one significant character from the original “Bosch” series who hasn’t shown up yet in the spin-off. Amy Aquino portrayed Lt Grace Billets in all 68 episodes of “Bosch,” a role that was one of Bosch’s closest confidants, and her absence from “Bosch: Legacy” is quite unexpected.

The Bosch universe is growing as the Renee Ballard series, starring Maggie Q, is being filmed. Additionally, the Jerry Edgar spin-off series is being developed, potentially bringing back beloved characters to the Bosch universe soon. There’s also a chance that Lt Grace Billets character will be further explored, possibly reappearing in Bosch: Legacy season 3 and/or its spin-offs.

Lt. Grace Billets Is The Only Major Character From The Original Series Yet To Return In Bosch: Legacy And That Should Be Rectified In Season 3

In the television series “Bosch,” Lieutenant Grace Billets (played by Amy Aquino) held the position of commanding officer for the detective bureau at the LAPD Hollywood Division. She was Harry Bosch’s (Titus Welliver) superior, but due to their shared history as academy colleagues, she often took a more supportive role. Despite her official rank placing her above him, Lieutenant Grace Billets viewed herself as an equal and frequently backed Harry, even when he found himself in the wrong.

In the last episode of Bosch, when the Homicide division was dismantled, everyone went their own ways. However, in the series Bosch: Legacy on Amazon Freevee, several characters from Bosch’s days with the LAPD made guest appearances. Maddie Bosch’s entry into the LAPD brought back Sgt. John ‘Mank’ Mankiewicz (Scott Klace), and Harry Bosch maintained connections with his former partner Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector) and the chatty duo, Crate and Barrel (Gregory Scott Cummins and Troy Evans). Even after they retired, these characters continued to make appearances in Bosch’s life, and Bosch: Legacy season 3 is expected to feature them again.

In the second season of “Bosch: Legacy,” even secondary characters such as detectives Rondell Pierce and Christina Vega (portrayed by DaJuan Johnson and Jacqueline Obradors) made a comeback to aid Bosch in his investigation into Lexi Parks’ murder. It was great seeing familiar faces, but unfortunately, Lt Grace Billets was conspicuously absent. The upcoming season 3 should rectify this by reintroducing her in a significant role that propels the storyline forward.

As the narrative unfolds in Bosch: Legacy, Billet’s absence becomes increasingly conspicuous, given her significant role in the original Bosch series. Her promotion to Captain at the end of Bosch season 7 suggests that she remains deeply involved in law enforcement, a realm that continues to shape the backdrop of Bosch: Legacy. It would be satisfying for viewers if they were informed about Billet’s current activities, even if it’s just a brief update, since her character has not been mentioned thus far in Bosch: Legacy’s first two seasons.

Lt. Grace Billets Is A Strong Enough Character To Carry Her Own Spin-Off, Or She Could Appear In The Renee Ballard Series

Starring Maggie Q, Courtney Taylor, John Carroll Lynch, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill and Titus Welliver
Based on the books by Michael Connelly
Created by Michael Connelly, Trish Hofmann, Michael Alaimo, and Kendall Sherwood

In Michael Connelly’s Bosch universe, as established through his book series, is now expanding to the television world it has long deserved, a decade after the initial debut of Bosch on Amazon Prime Video in 2014. Maggie Q’s character, Renee Ballard, will appear in Bosch: Legacy season 3, before she takes the lead in her own spin-off series. It is also possible that Lt Grace Billets could star in a future Bosch spin-off show.

Although the Ballard series is set on a different side of Los Angeles than Bosch: Legacy, it’s plausible that Biltons could still appear, especially if she’s no longer in law enforcement. In fact, her absence from law enforcement might increase her chances of appearing, since Ballard’s cold case team often recruits ex-law enforcement officers. Moreover, given that Titus Welliver has been confirmed to play Harry Bosch as a recurring character in the Renee Ballard series, this could provide an opportunity for him to reconnect with Biltons.

If Bosch: Legacy decides to explore the universe more, Billet is a compelling character who could potentially star in her own series. Her depth and complexity make her suitable for leading a show, and it would be captivating to follow her journey as she takes on a challenging new police role. A guest spot on Bosch: Legacy could serve as an excellent stepping stone towards her own show, allowing viewers to reconnect with her character after some time away.
