Best Support Agents In Valorant

Best Support Agents In Valorant

Highlights

  • Sage remains the best support agent in Valorant with her well-rounded abilities, including Healing Orb and Resurrection.
  • Cypher dominates in intel gathering and site lockdown with his surveillance network, making him a top pick for team play.
  • Astra offers a versatile support role, controlling the map with global abilities like Cosmic Divide for effective team plays.

As a seasoned Valorant player, I can confidently assert that Sage is undeniably the queen of support agents. With years of gaming under my belt and countless hours spent on this exhilarating tactical shooter, I’ve come to appreciate the intricacies of each agent’s role. However, none have impressed me quite like Sage.

As a tactical shooter, Valorant‘s diverse collection of agents isn’t heavily populated by traditional hard supports. Instead, most characters in the game possess a versatile toolkit that can cater to various playstyles. Because there isn’t an officially designated ‘support’ role within the game, it’s challenging to identify the characteristics that define a support character.

It all boils down to how well an agent can assist their teammates in entering or defending a site, winning frags, and gaining access to vital intel about the enemies’ whereabouts. Based on these terms, several agents can be pinned as supports, with some better than others in terms of overall team play. It’s pertinent to note that any agent can be played as a support character, though some have a more team-centric kit, denoting them as a better support.

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that these agents are nothing short of extraordinary. Their intelligence-gathering skills and crowd-control gameplay are simply unparalleled, making them the ultimate choice for both entry and retake scenarios. The latest updates to this list, showcasing the support status of new agents, have only served to enhance their appeal. These agents are not just tools in a game; they’re game changers, shaping the way I approach and enjoy my gaming experience.

10 Breach

An Agent With A Concussive Playstyle

Debut Beta
Agent Class Initiator

Swedish character Breach is renowned for his powerful skills and impactful hits. At first glance, he might seem like a solo, aggression-focused figure due to his abilities. However, it’s when playing as part of a team that Breach truly excels, utilizing his concussive powers effectively.

In simpler terms, both Fault and Rolling Thunder can knock out numerous opponents all at once, even in locations that are typically off-limits. With a concussion effect lasting for 6 seconds on Breach’s ultimate ability, this gives him the chance to clear a path for his team by temporarily incapacitating anyone unfortunate enough to be near when he unleashes his powerful strikes, making it easier for his teammates to move in.

9 Gekko

Brings A Sixth Member To The Team

Debut Episode 06: REVELATION: Act 2
Agent Class Initiator

With an assortment of uncommon companions, Gekko’s game approach centers on employing these small allies to create a passage for teammates to access sites. His influence is evident both in defense and offense, predominantly through Wingman functioning as an additional team member. Equipped with the ability to disarm and plant the bomb, along with a concussion grenade, Wingman is Gekko’s most useful sidekick.

The remaining equipment in Gekko’s set is equally adaptable and team-focused. Dizzy and Moshpit effectively handle corner defense, enabling the team to swiftly take control of sites. The most powerful tool in Gekko’s collection is Thrash, a creature that can attach itself to opponents, immobilizing them for up to 6 seconds. In cases where Thrash doesn’t manage to immobilize enemies, it still provides valuable intel to Gekko and his companions by disclosing the enemy’s position.

8 Harbor

Shields Allies With Cascading Water

Debut Episode 05: DIMENSION: Act 3
Agent Class Controller

Harbor bolsters his team by swiftly navigating towards enemy positions armed with his aquatic arsenal, and additionally helping teammates gain entry to sites using Cascade’s surge of water. Meanwhile, Cove provides cover for allies amidst the heat of battle, while Harbor’s key support skill lies in his High-Tide barrier.

Harbor has a unique talent that allows him to effortlessly adjust the flow of his water barrier, thus blocking several access points simultaneously. This not only obscures the vision of adversaries but also conserves resources for his allies’ abilities, giving the team an advantage in the later stages of the game.

7 Sova

The Intel-Gathering Scout

Debut Beta
Agent Class Initiator

As a dedicated fan, I might rephrase it like this: Although Sova doesn’t fit the typical mold of a support character, his unique kit empowers him to function as an exceptional intelligence gatherer for the team. The role of supporting goes beyond just healing or offering protection; locating the enemy’s position is equally vital in securing a site.

Sova’s ‘Recon Dart’ is an exceptional tool for gathering intel in the game since it enables him to scan the entire map safely from afar. In case the dart doesn’t work, Sova can lend his support to his team by deploying his ‘Owl Drone,’ which scouts unexplored areas and marks any hostile players. This setup significantly enhances the team’s ability to enter and secure the site effectively.

6 Astra

A Versatile Support With a Multitude of Tools

Debut Episode 02: FORMATION: Act 2
Agent Class Controller

As a gamer, I’ve found that Astra’s kit makes me an exceptional support, helping my teammates seamlessly navigate into and hold any site with grace. With two crowd control options, smokescreens, and a wall that blocks both bullets and sound on a global scale, Astra is one of the most adaptable agents in Valorant. What truly sets her apart is the fact that her abilities can reach anywhere on the map from a safe position, giving me the upper hand.

Her ‘Nova Pulse’ incapacitates enemy agents over a vast region, and Gravity Well pulls adversaries out into the open. However, it’s Astra’s ultimate ability that makes her truly exceptional as a support – Cosmic Divide creates a global wall capable of dividing entire maps, enabling the team to advance towards their objective. Despite Astra appearing to be an ideal support character, many players are deterred by the complexity of mastering her gameplay mechanics, which limits her use primarily to high-level players.

5 Fade

Uncovers Enemy Locations With Terror

Debut Episode 04: DISRUPTION: Act 3
Agent Class Initiator

Fade can easily creep in on her enemies, revealing their location and slowing them in their tracks. The versatility of her kit further allows her to be useful in both attacking and defending scenarios. ‘Haunt’ and ‘Prowler’ are perfect for revealing enemy locations and forcing opponents out of corners, while ‘Seize’ can stop them in their tracks in plain sight.

1. The adaptability of the Prowler is beneficial in multiple ways; it not only gathers intel but also neutralizes enemies swiftly by disarming them as they follow the creature’s trail. Fade’s ultimate ‘Nightfall’ is a powerful support tool, blanketing vast areas with its impact and silencing any foes caught in the chaos. With their senses overwhelmed, adversaries are compelled to abandon the site and regroup, creating an ideal moment for allies to eliminate any escaping enemies.

4 Kay/O

Suppresses All Enemy Utility

Debut Episode 03: REFLECTION: Act 1
Agent Class Initiator

Although often viewed as a challenging character to initiate, Kay/O stands out as one of the top supporters in the game due to his exceptional suppression skills and his role in creating intriguing team strategies. As the sole agent in the entire game with suppression abilities, Kay/O becomes an essential pick for any team.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but marvel at Kay/O’s exceptional abilities – Zero/Point and Null/CMD. These two powers serve the same purpose: disabling enemy utilities and rendering their special skills impotent. In a game like Valorant, where strategy and utility are the cornerstones, stripping opponents of their abilities leaves them vulnerable and forced to engage in open combat without any backup or cover. It’s truly fascinating how one hero can shift the tide of battle so dramatically!

3 Skye

A Multifaceted Support

Debut Episode 01: IGNITION: Act 3
Agent Class Initiator

Amongst very few healing characters in the entire game, Skye serves as a traditional type of support but offers much more than just healing. This rugged Australian character has a variety of animals at her disposal to assist her team. Beyond information gathering, Skye’s Trailblazer can penetrate enemy territory, exposing the positions of adversaries and temporarily stunning anyone caught within its jump range.

In this scenario, Skye’s talent ‘Seekers’ functions similarly, exposing the position of adversaries and momentarily disorienting those struck. Meanwhile, Skye’s exceptional skill ‘Regrowth’ serves as one of her most effective support abilities, often shifting the balance of a fight in favor of her team. Notably, Regrowth allows Skye to restore the health of others, demonstrating its inherently selfless nature.

2 Cypher

The Ultimate Surveillance Network

Debut Beta
Agent Class Sentinel

Cypher’s gameplay style perfectly reflects his backstory, with no one, be it friend or foe, escaping his piercing gaze. Every skill he possesses is designed for intelligence gathering and exposing the positions of enemies, thereby assisting teammates in securing kills and protecting bases more efficiently.

Cypher can lock down sites with ease, either by trapping opponents in his tripwires or marking enemies with his camera. However, his true trump card is his ultimate Neural Theft, a global ability that reveals the location of each opponent on the map. Currently, Cypher dominates Valorant’s lineup in terms of locking down a site, and no other agent will be dethroning him any time soon.

1 Sage

Valorant’s Bonafide Support Agent

Debut Beta
Agent Class Sentinel

Without a doubt, Sage is a well-known figure in the game’s meta, maintaining her top-tier status since its debut. This consistency highlights her exceptional versatility as a supporting character. Despite numerous adjustments to her stats and balancing tweaks, Sage continues to be a favorite among players of all skill levels, underscoring her immense value on the battlefield. Sage’s ‘Healing Orb’ is her signature ability, restoring the health of wounded allies with her life force.

Sage’s genuine strengths as a support character primarily stem from her ultimate ‘Resurrection,’ which transforms a 5 vs 6 scenario into a more favorable situation. Her revive is exceptionally powerful, often providing a crucial turnaround in critical situations. What sets Sage apart as an outstanding support is that each of her abilities benefits her team in different ways, with her healing orbs and barrier walls serving similar purposes. Her adaptable yet team-focused skillset earns her the title of the top support agent in Valorant, a position she’s unlikely to lose anytime soon, as no other character has managed to dethrone her so far.
